My first time where? Central Park? No, I first visited Central Park about four years ago. And two years ago I moved to Manhattan and now the park is a fifteen minute walk away and I've been quite a bit.

Not nearly. I'm a meager 5'6", but at Buttholes I was able to get to the front of that area and see fine, and for both Cranberries and Primal Scream we just stood at the back of the crowd and didn't have an issue. Maybe I've just gotten lucky every time I've been there.

    I love me some Huey.

The singer from The Cranberries is one of the most cuntish people it had been my displeasure to tour with.

Hearing Foo Fighters may be playing Costa Mesa 60th bday celebration tonight at the fairgrounds, their twitter seems to point to it, too. 5 minutes from home, do I go?

It wasn't the Foo Fighters, I was there. Dave Grohl showed up to play with Taylor Hawkins' cover band Chevy Metal. It was fun.

Drove over to check it out, see the fireworks. Listened to a couple songs outside the fence, wasn't gonna pay $40 to watch, though.

I wouldn't have paid the $25 they were charging at the door. My friend offered me an extra ticket and I took it. Didn't stick around for Eric Burden. Watched The Soft Pack play to a pathetic crowd of empty chairs earlier.

I didn't make it to the Ecstatic Summer show but Big Star's Third was fucking phenomenal. The base band was people who all knew each other and have played together in a pile of different bands, from the 90s/00s version of Big Star to the dB's, R.E.M. and on many, many solo records.

They started out with about a half an hour of random songs and then started in on Third. This portion opened with "Stroke It Noel" but they kind of made up their own running order. After this they played some Chris Bell songs (including Pete Yorn's great take on "I am the Cosmos") and more Big Star including the highlight of the night, Mike Mills leading "September Gurls". That was followed by older Alex Chilton with "The Letter" (Richard Lloyd on guitar again). They closed with "Thank You Friends" and we were all happy.

Jonathan Donahue's lovely version of "Holocaust" was another favorite. Brett Harris was the standout of the artists I didn't know; he had a fantastic voice and had a dead on Alex Chilton taking lead vocals for several songs such as "Femme Fatale" and "When My Baby's Beside Me" (I think? It was a long night with a lot of guests). Most hilarious would either be Kurt Vile looking entirely confused singing backup on the last few songs and Mike Mills rhythmically bouncing a basketball on I forget which song.

All in all they played 2 hours 20 minutes.

^ haha totally right on about Kurt Vile. He was crossing his arms for the whole time and looked like he didn't want to be there. Overall I'm happy the weather turned out ok for a great night of music!

Almost! Triple dipped w/ the mayor inauguration w/ moby and grand park sessions w/ audiofly. We walked in staples and to our surprise he just came on! Thought that was weird. Figured the openers just had short sets. Started to leave and some dj came on stayed a little bit and to our surprise New Edition came on so stayed for mr telephone man and jetted. Side Note: prob had the worst concert person of the year by us for this one. Big lady w/ a whistle that kept blowing it all night in peoples ear at random times. We just moved since there was plenty of empty seats. Started off in sec 200s and ended up in 100s. Not bad for $15 bucks per.
