wa wa wa wa wa
what a tired discussion in this thread and in all places in the world of live music
sorry to break it to 21+ people (of which I am recently a part), but people under 21 like some music that people over 21 like. And to people who are like 19-20 for instance (and even younger) 21+ shows really suck. Especially when it's a good band.
If you're older than 21 and you go to terrible shows and you need that 21 plus buffer to get through it... then by all means. But if the show is good... why not let everyone enjoy. Don't wanna bunch of kids running around? I mean I understand... but often times older idiots are more annoying at venue shows than young people. My experience (except at certain shows that idiots cannot be avoided, ie. the xx, one off time at the Rapture in Pomona)
12/2 - Battle Tapes - Echo - LA
12/4 - Together Pangea - Echoplex - LA
12/12 - UFC 194: McGregor vs. Aldo - MGM Grand - LV
All of us were under 21 at some point. We missed shows we couldn't get into because of it. In San Diego you unfortunately have to deal with a LOT more than we do in L.A. County. Whatever. Crowds are crowds. Places have these rules for a reason, it's not some arbitrary thing.
12/10/15 - Kamasi Washington @ Club Nokia // 12/12/15 - HEALTH @ Teragram Ballroom // 12/19/15 - Pity Sex @ Echo // 2/13/15 - Black Sabbath @ Mandalay Bay Events Center
3/19/15 - Clint Mansell @ Theater at Ace Hotel // 3/26/15 - Greg Dulli @ Teragram Ballroom
And it really does change the crowd dynamic. Sometimes for the better, sometimes not so much (I hate seeing punk/loud band shows at 21+ venues: no pit, no movement, too much self-consciousness.) That said, 21+ venues can be really great places because you don't have to deal with a whole group of people who act a certain way either through lack of concert-going experience/etiquette or general maturity. You'll all get there, and when you do you'll learn to love the 21+ shows for what they offer.
The 18+ shows were WAY more annoying to me when I was 16/17 compared to the annoyance of 21+ the past two years.

I remember getting shut out of a couple of 18+ shows for my favorite bands at the time. I never got affected by 21+ restrictions for some reasons.
overall I was pretty fortunate that so many venues in SF are all ages.
long story short, life is a crapshoot.

Got cheap tickets for The Killers tonight. How strict is The Sports Arena's camera policy?
I have a balcony ticket for Yo la Tengo at the Fonda on Thursday that I won't be able to use because I'm going out of town. If anyone's interested in it, send me a message, you can have it.
I'm still mad that I couldn't see Trashcan Sinatras and Catherine Wheel at (different) 21+ venues.

Man, Built to Spill fucking killed it last night. Out of the 14 other times i've seen them, that may have been the rowdiest crowd I have ever seen at one of their shows. I tried to ask the drummer and one of the new guitarists about future shows (LA area, FYF...) but neither one had anything to say.
Really disappointed I missed them in Sac, I had no idea they put on such an awesome show. Couldn't bail on my buddy's birthday anyhow though. Next time hopefully.
2013 = Coverchella
2011 = Perfectchella
So uhh... the girlfriend and I signed up for the lottery for Rolling Stones tickets. Somehow, she just scored pit tickets for $85.00! Holy fuck, I am seeing the Stones tomorrow in the pit!
For your health
dude they all say GA PIT...i got a pair also....could still be anywhere in the arena.
Ah shit. Seriously? Well, I HOPE I get to see the Stones in the pit then.
For your health
yeah sorry man. i got 2 pairs...both say GA PIT
So I just picked up 2 GAPIT5 just right now. Hopefully they dont end up nosebleeds but whatever its half off the worst seat in the arena and tour kickoff. Not bad. I assume it went live at 3:03 when the email went out? or when they tweeted?
