Black Rebel Motorcycle Club were fantastic tonight. I just wish I had consumed copious amounts of whiskey beforehand. That was a whiskey show if I've ever seen one.

Just got back from seeing Jon Brion at the Largo. He played for just over 2.5 hours. Fiona Apple showed up for a handful of songs, as well as Benmont Tench and some others. They finished their encore with a live mash-up rendition of "Rudolph The Red-nosed Reindeer" and "Roxanne" (just think about it for a second) with Fiona on vocals. I love her so much. Probably my show of the year.

Fiona did that last year at her show at the Largo right around Christmas time and it was such a great tune. Ruuuuudolph... you don't have to put on that red nose...

excited for Tomorrows Tulips/TRMRS/Pangea/Growlers at Alex's Bar tonight. They kept these shows pretty under the radar, probably trying to get more people into the fonda show.

I don't know their catalog by heart, and they only mentioned that one song was new right before they played it. It was really mellow and emotional sounding, and not in a good way. Although Robert did say it was the first time they were playing it live, so that was cool. There may have been a few other new ones, but I couldn't tell.

The highlight for me was an extended noisy version of Awake from their first album. It was stunning.

Yeah! It was one of those songs where I was so lost in it all that it'll likely remain my very favorite song of theirs, even as I get more familiar with their discography.

At the very last second I decided to see Big Black Delta at the Satellite last night, and it was awesome! He now has a fourth member, a live bass player, and really has kinks worked out since the last time I saw him. It was a short set at 40 minutes, but it was a lot of fun.

Wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong. Not even close to a zillion, in fact $114 is way cheaper than I would expect, especially when considering that last years show cost $250 a ticket for GA and $1000 for VIP (source: http://www.examiner.com/article/dead...sunset-on-2-12). It's all for CHARITY. My friends father works at Children's Hospital Los Angeles and its a wonderful place. And if you go to the ticket page you'll see this is just "Early Bird" tickets that are sold out.

I'd like to see Kanye with a band backing him. Something more like the Bloc Party show. His headlining show at Coachella I thought was sort of horrible. He had the intensity, which is awesome, but the sound was just sort of lacking. It's hard to base a performer on one show though. I've seen bands have good and bad shows on different dates/ stages. Hopefully you don't need a sold out crowd to enjoy the show =P

He's pretty fun live. If you're a fan of his music it's definitely worth going. I've seen him a bunch this year. I'm trying to make it out to LET tonight as well.
