    This run should be nice:

10/6 Maria Minerva - Soda Bar
10/7 Jeff the Brotherhood - Casbah
    10/8 Mono - Casbah
10/10 The Weeknd - Marquee (PHX)
10/11 The xx / John Talabot - Soma

Look at this dreadful real life conflict though:

11/10 Trail of Dead - Casbah
    11/10 Japandroids - Porter's Pub
    11/10 Titus Andronicus - Irenic

    tsk tsk

Looks like a quiet end of the year for me:

!!! at Alex's Bar (if you have never been, it is a tiny dive bar. It is going to be pretty great!)
    Presets in Pomona
    Com Truise at the Observatory

I had a bunch of shows I would have wanted to see in early December but I will be in Europe.
    For your health

It really fuckin sucks cause smoking a blunt to Flying Lotus is prime.. But it won't be worth it getting left outside waiting for your group, or getting kicked out all together. I really am not looking forward to Flying Lotus there, it is the fuckin shittiest venue I hate that place.
When I saw Butthole Surfers there we smoked in the pit and had no problems. Depends on the show, I think. I've snuck stuff in to most of the sets I've seen there.

The Shins were fun tonight. Played all the songs I wanted to hear. Sleeping Lessons is the best song the group has written/recorded/played live tonight. Really responsive and adoring crowd. Sound was good up in the first row center of the balcony.

    Kissing the Lipless
    Caring Is Creepy
    Simple Song
    Know Your Onion!
    Bait and Switch
    The Rifle's Spiral
    Pam Berry
    Phantom Limb
    Saint Simon
    It's Only Life
    So Says I
    Girl Sailor
    Australia
    Port of Morrow
    New Slang
    Sleeping Lessons

    Encore:
    No Way Down
    Sphagnum Esplanade
    One by One All Day

You very seldom see anyone wearing plugs at European shows. I know lots of people with 1000+ shows under their belt and no hearing issues. I'm not saying it doesn't happen. I'm just saying you all have pussy ears.

Has anyone mentioned that the Eagle Rock Music Festival is this weekend? Should be a good time, Thundercat dropped out so now The Pharcyde are headlining instead. Hopefully I'll be able to hit this up and Trash Talk in the same day.

Probably bad ass haha. I've seen hundreds of shows without earplugs but for MBV's set at Kutcher's/Roseland Ballroomn (they were giving them out when you walked into the venue), it was a must have! I mean even Sonofhal said he wore it for the last song

Yep pretty much this. You're an amateur if you get caught inside a venue! Just go in the corner/middle of the crowd and you should be fine.

Thundercat dropped out because he's opening/playing with FlyLo on Sunday! Teebs & Jeremiah Jae got added to the show as well. Anyone seen Jeremiah Jae live?

For anyone in NY this weekend...

    John Lennon's drawings!

In honor of what would have been his 72nd birthday, Yoko Ono is sharing a series of John Lennon's drawings with the public from Friday, October 5 until October 9. The curators say that this year's exhibit considers fans more than ever before. It includes some written pieces, but the emphasis is on limited-edition prints of drawings and sketches. Three of the pieces have never been available to the public, and will be making their debut at this showing. "We discover things constantly," Ono says.
    Where/When

The exhibit, called "The Art of John Lennon," will be available for viewing at 130 Prince St, between Wooster and West Broadway in SoHo, from noon to 8 p.m. on Friday October 5, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday October 6, and then from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day until the closing on Lennon's birthday, October 9. The exhibit is free, but there is a $2 suggested donation at the door. Proceeds will go to CityMeals on Wheels, a non-profit that cares for the elderly. The artwork is all for sale, and prices range from $200 to $22,000.

Ha, its alright. Not even one of their best though movies/tv would try to convince you otherwise. I actually was talking to someone last night that its not even the best Shins song on the Garden State soundtrack and they were getting quite defensive of New Slang over Caring is Creepy.

OH, and Washed Out were SO great. Were playing to that big room in fantastic fashion; would go see them again.

Well yea Coachella set in 09 wasn't as loud as ATP/Roseland shows but it was still the loudest set I've seen at Coachella. I mean walking from the beer garden, I had to cover my ears!

Yeah Plummer is the drummer. And Wincing the Night Away is awesome, shhh! I do have some issue with the whole band member thing though... Anyways.

Yes they are still around and the shows are awesome costumes, evil space monsters, and all. The christmas time shows are especially great with all the extra stuff they bring out and the santa costumes. I had always heard they were banned from playing the Disney House of Blues though since they made fun of Mickey Mouse and disney execs one time.
