The two Sleep shows I went to over the weekend were incredible. Pappy and Harriets was a really cool venue and a great setting to see them in. Seeing them at the Troubadour though was indescribable. Probably the loudest show I've ever been to and easily one of the best. The 25 minutes or so of Dopesmoker they played was out of this world. As a band they've never been tighter sounding.

    May 1 - Sleep
May 8-10 - Austin Psych Fest
    May 15-17 - Psycho California
June 6 - The Rolling Stones
    June 10 - Melvins
    June 20 - Blur
    June 24-28 - Glastonbury
    July 18 - Death Grips?
July 26 - Faith No More
    September 25 - Kraftwerk

I thought it was great, but yeah the organ was really only audible on two songs and quieter parts of the other three. I certainly wouldn't say the sound was bad. Bonus: saw them play two of the songs twice, as they soundchecked them around 4 or 5

Seriously. That SB Bowl show is a must go now. "Staring at the Sun" at Sunset across from the pacific ocean leading into Massive Attack in the dark is just too damn perfect not to make the drive for this.

THE LORD OF THE RINGS TRILOGY IN CONCERT

For the first time ever in North America, the complete film trilogy, The Lord of the Rings, will be presented live, in concert, April 8-12, 2015. Beneath a giant screen, the Academy Award-winning scores by Howard Shore will be performed by 250 musicians, on stage, including symphony orchestra, chorus and soloists. The Lord of the Rings Trilogy In Concert, at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center, features the 21st Century Symphony Orchestra & Chorus of Lucerne, Switzerland, conducted by Ludwig Wicki, which specializes in bringing films and their scores to life, and performs an annual program of film concerts at the KKL Luzern.

The epic film trilogy The Lord of the Rings – The Fellowship of the Ring (2001), The Two Towers (2002), The Return of the King (2003) – directed by Peter Jackson and based on the beloved J.R.R. Tolkien novel became an international phenomenon. Released by New Line Cinema, the trilogy is among the popular films of all time, and won a total of 17 Academy Awards.

Since 2007, presentations of individual films of The Lord of the Rings, In Concert, have taken place in cities in North and South America, Europe, Asia and Australia, including at Radio City Music Hall in New York in 2009 (The Fellowship of the Ring) and 2010 (The Two Towers).
