Thread: Upcoming Shows

  1. #73351

Hey guys. Wondering if the Belasco would be a worthwhile venue to see SBTRKT. The tickets say GA so I'm guessing they're clearing out space right?

    Thanks!

Yeah, it's so far. Saturday was my first time (Burger a-go-go). Since Warpaint isn't doing any full sets in LA, I gotta go.

As for pre-gaming, here's a Home Depot and Carls Jr nearby.

It's all fast food chains and business complexes. The only thing of note is there is a Sonics nearby, that's about the most exciting thing. There is a Chick Fila but I think they are still being boycotted, the rest is your basic mcdonalds, KFC, Carl's, In n Out, etc.

Yelp "The Iron Press." I went there before the Hold Steady show and they have a lot of great brewery taps on site that they rotate along with waffle bun sandwiches that I didn't try. There are surrounding restaurants as well.

Can turn right on South Coast Drive after you exit Harbor Blvd. and head over to Metro Pointe where there is a Karl Strauss brewery restaurant.

Seconded on the Iron Press. Good craft beer selection. I tried one of their waffle/chicken thingies last time I was there. It's good.

Would probably be good. Saw Tame Impala there last year and it was great. Venue is OK, kindof similar to the Fonda, but the space from stage to back is longer, and the balcony seems to overhang much much more than at the Fonda, so it affects your sightlines from the back a bit. It also smells like mold. Better than any of the LA live venues though.

One thing I hate about Belasco is since it's a club the sound is heavy on the DJ/Instruments and the mic sucks

Spoon was so great. Really happy to see them play Black Like Me and the new stuff sounded tight.

How do they not play Paper Tiger? Are they sick of it or something? I always thought that was one of their biggest songs?

Yeah, I work in Hollywood so it's certainly not impossible to get out there in time afterwork, but it is a huge timesuck. It's especially frustrating because I can just walk to the Fonda after work.

They had a second encore planned but ran out of time; too bad too because apparently they were going to play:

    Trouble Comes Running
    Everything Hits at Once
    The Way We Get By
    My Mathematical Mind
    Jonathon Fisk
    Metal Detektor

They sounded fantastic last night btw, I'd highly recommend catching them on this tour.

Apparently Rage Against the Machine reunited last night, but under the name Warpaint. Or at least the crowd reacted to their set as if they were. You know it got too rough when I had to give up my spot in the front to go hide in the back. Me. Warpaint. Yeah.

So yeah, disco got a little too //very.

And that is why that was my first and last time going to the OC for a show.

I'm sure there will be somebody who ends up in Orange County and it'll force you to return. Anyway, everyone is going to McCartney tonight, yes?

Thinking I'm gonna do the Union station express to get there... Works pretty well for dodger games, probably a big line at the end of the night.

That's how I'm rolling. Ya getting out is going to be a disaster no matter what. Pre-gaming at Wurstkuche if anyone is in the area early. Heading over around 4pm.
