Arctic Monkeys' show in October at the small(er) hockey arena here in suburbia is selling horribly. Tickets are still available in every section including floor GA. Don't know why they thought they'd sell well at $59.50 when they just played ACL Festival last year.

Not surprised at all. They should've just played Moody and sold it out.

Smaller venue would have been nice, but Club Nokia sucks balls. I don't really have a problem with Nokia Theater.

The First Unitarian Church is a location where the promotor, Spaceland Presents, often books shows. It's just an interesting space.

It is going to be incredibly crowded. Last year about 10,000 people were there for the festivities and the fireworks and there weren't really any recognizable name acts. For NYE they prepared for 20,000 people and more than 60k showed up; they had to shut the gates and turn people away.

I read a statement yesterday that on Friday they are expecting 25,000 and preparing for 50,000. DO NOT DRIVE TO THE PARK. Use the subway. It's going to be nuts. Be aware that there is no alcohol at the event and security will be strict.

I guess it's probably more hassle than it's worth, coming from Orange County.

The city is touting this as being the biggest fireworks display in the city since 1995. There is a lot of publicizing going on from City Hall.

Also, there are lot of bars and things to do in the area. Just get there early!

If there is ever a recognizable name and the word "FREE" on it, it'll be overcrowded...although I think 98.7 is selling tickets for the pit (or maybe just a giveaway?) I'll be at a couple roof bars in downtown on Friday night and catch the fireworks from there.

    I miss talking to TomAz.

We all do. I live in the same city as him (unless he relocated) and rumor has it that at 3:15am if you listen closely and its really really quiet you can hear him telling you to go fuck yourself.

I saw the show in San Francisco last night. Very solid, also quite emotional for Erika (at one point, she had to take a moment off stage to regain her composure). Apparently, upon first moving to CA, she used to couch surf in West Oakland and wrote some of EMAs early songs during this time period, i.e. California. A bunch of her Oakland/SF friends were in attendance as well. I was able to snaggle a set list and Erika signed it while hanging out afterward.
