I enjoyed Foxygen. Exceeded my expectations of a boring set.

You could tell that the very long tour is wearing them out a bit, but still, The National were fucking great last night. I have never been to the SB Bowl before and it is gorgeous. I had no problem with the early show time. It started raining when they played Slow Show and it really lit up the crowd. Matt went out to the lower tier seating during Terrible Love and they ended with the all acoustic Vanderlye Crybaby Geeks. Finally got to hear All the Wine! Yes! Good running into Cutter, his bro and Shusov. Juan?

I really like the album, and enjoyed the Coachella set, but after a few minutes had had enough of the whole "look how wacky and zany I am! What am I gonna do next?" schtick from the lead singer. Would see them again just for the backup vocalists though, haha.

Dude it was a really great show and nice hanging with you. I dont know how the fuck you left us on the front of the stage and got back up there multiple times but I have never been more amazed to be handed an IPA an hour into a concert through a GA pit. Next one is definitely on me!

I really liked Foxygen's set wk1. And ya, the back-up singers are not hard on the eyes! But I could see how someone might get frustrated with them. When Sam France knocks off all the crazy antics, he's got a very interesting voice. And they have good melodies. Looking forward to the Fonda show.

Cloud Nothings were incredible tonight. Got flashbacks of my days as a youngin' at my local DIY club back in Arizona. The Men were a great opener as well.

Black Sabbath destroyed. Great fun early with the pre-game- good meeting you Drew! Hard to imagine a more perfect night at the Bowl. It's really amazing how good they still sound. And I got Faeries Wear Boots! Very good night.

Simian Mobile Disco were fantastic last night @ Pappy and Harriets. Only about 300-400 people there, if that. The new album started a bit slow, but the last 45 minutes of their main set were great, classic SMD sounds. What I never realized about going to this show was how I would leave not knowing how many songs they actually played/intended for this new album - I counted 7 during the main set, and then I think they played 1-2 more as part of the encore. Was glad they dropped a few of the old songs (Cerulean and at least one other one) as well. And a fantastic steak on top of it all.

Looking forward to the next time I can make it out there.

Yeah, they were prettty weak. might have been cuz it was outdoors, i dont know. it was my first time seeing them. I know that stoner metal drone can go no where, but this really went nowhere. The drummer was weak. This is completely opposite from reports i heard of their el rey show on Friday. Oh well, SMD mor ethan made up for it. i was not expecting to be too crazy about their new material. but I loooved it. It was cool they played Cerulean, really went well with the new material. cant wait to hear that album. Pappy & Harriets was awesome. Great experience
