Daniel Rossen was ridiculous tonight. Balmy night on the banjo was magical.

Steve Malkmus Band played only one Pavement song last night. Scott joined the band on stage for Stereo. The whole place lit up like a Christmas tree during that song. This planet needs more Pavement.

Fuckkkkkk I guess it's Output tonight...

It is with heavy hearts that we have to cancel tonight's party. Due to reasons beyond our control, Silent Servant will not be able to perform. Frankly, there's no proper fill in for an 8 hour Silent Servant set at the last minute. Everyone who bought tickets will be refunded in full via Resident Advisor. If you are still looking to party tonight, there are a bunch of alumni of The Bunker playing over at Output (Marcel Dettmann, Function, Anthony Parasole), which we highly recommend.

Did not feel any of the earthquake last night while Speedy Ortiz was on (they were mixed pretty loud) - thank God, later learned the chandeliers at the El Rey were rocking pretty good from it...

Enjoyed Malkmus' set, technical issues for the first 5-6 songs but they were very tight after.

I imagine at some point they will do at least one headlining show in support of the new album in the area, being a local band and all.

Yeah Neal Young was some next level business. I would take another acoustic performance over any other avenue. I may have to go again.

Yeah, Neil Young was incredible. He did Mr. Soul on a pump organ and turned it into a wild drone piece. Ohio killed it, the version of Love in Mind on banjo was great, and he opened the encore with Thrasher, which was just excellent. Lots of great stories too.

Almost no words for tonight's Neil Young show. Ohio, Southern Man, Mr Soul in the center of the set, just after the intermission. Very powerful.

No words, indeed. If You Could Read My Mind is one of the best songs there is to me, and his cover was a complete surprise and near wrecked me. Even moreso than Lightfoot's version, he was so vulnerable, so delicate. Completely floored. I've never been much of a fan of the song, but what he did with A Man Needs a Maid was jaw-dropping. And On the Way Home is another one of those all-time great songs in my book, so to play an extremely soft and tender version of that so early on was the perfect way to establish the tone for the night.

    RIP Cinnamon Girl hecklers.

    That's like, 100 words bro. :P

I never came in here to say how much I enjoyed St. Vincent last weekend. We got there right as she was starting, and I didn't feel like maneuvering through the crowd to try and get a spot up close, so we hung to the back of the Fox theater. The theatricality of her performance and her use of the space to create a visual impact was solid. "Prince Johnny" was probably my favorite moment, and I'm glad she did "Laughing With a Mouth of Blood" because it's my all time favorite St. Vincent song, but I wasn't super fond of the rework.

Last night's show was one of my favorite sets by anyone ever.

And god, I wish they would've ejected the heckler last night. That asshole marred an otherwise perfect performance.

Between 98.7 and KROQ, Arctic Monkeys have become a pretty big radio band in Los Angeles in recent months. This doesn't surprise me much.

I had a really solid show going weekend.

On Friday, I saw LA band Tommy Santee Klaws at a free show at MorYork in Highland Park. First off, the venue is ridiculously awesome. It looks like nothing special from the outside, but once you get inside you are treated to an amazing visual display of numerous curios, cabinets you can open up to find more art/objects inside, even a super reflective concave metal mirror. The band was great too, they are folky and have amazing vocal harmonies.

Saturday: Neil Young. I don't have a crystal clear memory of this performance as I was about 5 glasses of whiskey deep and I was seeing quadruple but I liked it a lot. Really enjoyed that he played the hits - Southern Man, Ohio, Heart of Gold - and From Hank to Hendrix was a great opening song.

Sunday was William Tyler at the Culver Palms Church of Christ. It was the first in what they will make a series of free shows there called "Edifications". Tyler played for an hour, no frills, just him, his guitar, a pedalboard. He's super skilled and I loved every second of it. I was also surprised that he had some occasional really noisy/experimental moments in the show, and I thought they came off well. Definitely don't miss him when he is back in town!

Arctic Monkeys did sell out MSG in February. I imagine they will have a fairly well known opener to help sell tickets. I also imagine this makes them even more of a lock for OSL.

It probably end up selling out. Them performing in arenas has been delayed by a few years, cause this isnt the uk.

Neil was great last night. I splurged and went with the $145 ticket, since I was going with my parents. Definitely worth it for this show, being front center and like 10 rows from the stage. I agree, A Man Needs A Maid was just unreal. I feel like the second set was shorter than what I've seen on other setlists, maybe I was just too into the music to notice. Clearly those guys yelling for Cinnamon Girl pissed Neil off to some degree, though.
