And Spooks, fuck you SO HARD. That set list is incredible, those guests are great, what a choice of covers. I really, really wish I was there. Seriously, go count your dick.
We wound up being clobbered with a setlist and guest lineup worthy of an alt/indie-rock uber fanís wet dream: Lee Ranaldo and Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth, Frank Black from the Pixies, Johnny Marr of The Smiths, Dale Crover from the Melvins, Tommy Stinson of The Replacements, Kyle Spence from Harvey Milk, Kurt Vile, Al Cisneros from Sleep, Kevin Drew of Broken Social Scene, Suzanne Thorpe of Mercury Rev, Don Fleming, Dante Ferrando, John Petkovic and Fred Armisen. On a night with more highlights and jaw-dropping performances than one can count, there was a wonderful interplay between all the artists and a realization by the crowd that this concert was to be savored. Thank you J, Lou and Murph for the awesome holiday gift you honored us with. It was an extraordinary way to begin drawing this year to a close.

Hell yes. Negative Approach still kill it so hard live. I saw them at FYF back in 08(?) and the whole of the Echoplex was a tornado of bodies. Fucked Up played right after them and seemed tame in comparison.

Saw Metric last night at the Fox Theater, and they sucked. They didn't have any energy, looked bored. They completely phoned in the performance. They only played 14 songs, and about an hour and 15 minutes. New songs are fine on the record, and eventually grew on me, but the new songs are a snooze fest live. Also no Monster Hospital, and metric should not be doing acoustic songs. One of the worst shows I've been to all year.

Not too surprised at this. Emily is usually more on than off but can still be an erratic performer,a la Cat Power. My friend saw a solo show of her when she was touring as Emily Haines and the soft skeleton a few years back and she had an emotional meltdown on stage, dropping her mic and storming off after 20mns. The crowd booed and demanded refunds.

It seems to be always be two of these reasons why I haven't been to the Henry Miller library for a band I like that is playing.

I was just told today that my company is sending me to New York this Wednesday for a week and half, any good shows between the 13th and 21st in NYC?
Depends what kind of music you listen to. I can give you some ideas! If you don't have anything planned this Saturday, come check out Black Dice/Eternal Summers/Bleeding Rainbow for free. I'll be heading over there after Sharon Van Etten @ Cameo. More info here: http://www.brooklynvegan.com/archive...n_night_1.html

You should check out Yo La Tengo's residency @ Maxwell's (you can take the bus/subway to Hoboken. Not far at all!)

Edit: just read the thread. I will be at this.
This thing was up and down today on Ticketweb for some reason. Prices were initially shown as being between $18 and $25. Seems reasonable for that line up.
