Tempted to buy Petty Fest West tickets if I knew who was playing which day.
Has anyone been to the KCRW masquerade ball? Just saw they added M83 and was curious to see if it was worth it..
The setlist was VERY similar, but this performance was better for me (even if we didn't get anything from Tonight's the Night.) Increased familiarity with the new material certainly helped, as did the fact that I had a seat and the temperature was more comfortable, but I'll be damned if moments weren't just more transcendent. Still, they kill it so hard.
Just got an email that the Presets are playing at dim mak studios AND the vanguard on Friday the 26th. Night before their club Nokia show.
I didn't enjoy Neil Young as much as everyone else.

QUESTION: For shows at the Masonic Lodge at Hollywood Forever do they sell booze or refreshments of any kind, or is it byob like outside, or...?
Neil was everything I wanted from him. Too good.
I love Neil and I too was frustrated by the super extended new songs. I like the new songs fine but when it's a 13 song set, I don't want to see 5 new songs. I think my frustration boiled with how long "Walk like a Giant" went on. And I just don't like that song, "Born in Ontario".
I am also being extra cranky because the traffic was so bad and i came from Brentwood which took forever and when I got there all the parking was full and I had to park at the Ford theater.
It was funny the person next to me said (this is a complete stranger mind you, not someone with me). I didn't know he was from Ontario off the 10 freeway.

Quite a little gapola right there wouldn't you say?
FYI, the beer and wine they sell at Hollywood Forever is just out of a tub behind a table, it's not a real bar (obvs since it's just the waiting room of a lodge). Reason i mention is that when I was there for Divine Fits, it was only 1 girl behind the table and she was pretty overwhelmed. Be prepared for a wait.
Should I go see Dinosaur Jr tonight ($25) at a venue I don't really like, Witch Mountain & Castle ($7) tomorrow in a good venue in a town I don't really like, or drive an hour to see Jandek ($25) on Saturday at some shitty college campus? I don't have the time this week/weekend to do all 3 or even 2 of them.
Dinosaur Jr. will make the shitty venue sound good and are absolutely massive live. Jandek is a rare and intense show, but each one is completely different and it somewhat matters who the other players are. I'd definitely go with one of those two, and I'd only go with Jandek if you're fan enough to find the drive and price worth it. Intense, good show, but if you just want the better performance it'd be Dino.
The Corwood rep will be joined by Charles Gillett (electric guitar), Craig B. Mataresse (electric bass), Adam Patterson (drums, percussion), and Brian DeGayner (brass)
