There was an EP out for RSD from him. Was that new stuff? I shall investigate. I also loved the Coachella set and have been dying to see his own show.

Agreed on the username thing. I have a bad habit of signing up with this name (that dates back to when I was 13, and thought intentionally misspelling icy looked cool for aesthetic reasons) when I don't plan on posting much if at all, and then I end up becoming a regular. And then I look illiterate. Not to mention being named after an ointment.

I've been to Drai's once, I'm pretty sure you have to be on at least one questionable substance just to get in (although I wasn't). Fun place though, years ago it was where everyone went from 4am on.

Not too familiar with BF5, but I have major respect for Folds. He's just an awesome dude.

I am not counting on a second NYC date and, really, Friday is a good day for this.

Marisa Paternoster is god. I last saw Screaming Females in 2010 and they were a tight knit, well-rehearsed act. Tonight at the Eagle Rock Center for the Arts, they were a band that sounded like they were playing to a stadium. Marisa doesn't sing into the mic; she sings at it. As she yelps, she pushes it around with her face, like a crazed animal forever chasing a toy. When she steps back and plays guitar, my god. The woman is one of the most impressive guitar players I've ever seen. She is technically skilled, but also has a great way of putting melodies into her solos and tying them both into the rest of the band and the song itself. The new stuff from Ugly was particularly forceful. Doom 84, which stretched to nearly 10 minutes, was a huge hulking guitar workout, channeling Sabbath and Zeppelin at their best. I was dumbfounded most of the set watching the band force their energy on the crowd and each other. I can't say enough about how much I love them, and if they keep getting better at the rate they are, they will take over the world. Go see them if they're in your town.

    And, to make this relevant:

4/30 - Screaming Females, Audacity, Toys That Kill - The Continental, Fullerton

    Free.
