trentemoller 2006 ..... even if you don't like electronic music, this is a must listen.
Can someone enlighten me on what Essential is?
it's a weekly radio show on BBC Radio 1 that is also broadcasted online.
it features a different DJ each week, selected by Pete Tong. it's basically a two hour live mix or studio recorded mix. many different styles of electronic music are featured.
Thx Crazzz, sounds pretty cool.
your welcome. here's the site if interested....

6x Coachella Attendee (2007 - 2011, 2014a)
That Erol Alkan EM from this year's Global Gathering fucking rocks! I like to imagine that he's playing in the Sahara tent when I listen to it. Hope he's on the bill for 08. The recent High Contrast mix might be the best EM I have heard. So good.
The Daft Punk EM really isnt that great. It's a bit old so it sounds dated. The mix and selection really dont help it any. Same goes for any of the Groove Armada essential mixes.
Woo Chex Mix! I need to have my hubby make me some.
I miss talking to TomAz.
We all do. I live in the same city as him (unless he relocated) and rumor has it that at 3:15am if you listen closely and its really really quiet you can hear him telling you to go fuck yourself.
Coldcut 2006
end of thread.
ass on the grill
Not an essential mix, but Gabriel and Dresden's Nikki Beach set from the WMC is one of my favorites. Brando, if you can find this one you will love the intro especially. Sorry I can't post it. I can barely type. Little help?

The Psychonauts were a dj duo on the Mo' Wax label (James Levelle's label that had Air, Dj Shadow, Blackalicious, UNKLE, Luke Vibert, etc.).
Their EM has that dark hip hop, triphop feel to it.

Judging by this list it seems you have only been exposed to indie-pop EDM acts. You should venture off into breaks, progressive, d 'n b, etc.. I like:
24/03/1996 - LTJ Bukem & MC Conrad
07/02/1999 - Ed Rush & Optical
12/11/2000 - Craig Richards & Lee Burridge
09/12/2001 - Stanton Warriors
03/10/2004 - Desyn Masiello
28/11/2004 - Blackstrobe
20/03/2005 - Evil Nine
26/11/2000 - John 'OO' Flemming
10/07/2005 - Richie Hawtin and Ricardo Villalobos, Live from T in the Park
07/05/2006 - Gabriel & Dresden
26/03/2006 - Desyn Masiello, Demi & Omid 16b (Daylight Savings Special 3-Hour Mix)
20/08/2006 - Axwell
I wouldnt say those are indie-pop edm acts, but I just like those styled dj sets. I've listened to both Evil 9 and the Stanton mix, didnt care for them. I saw Richie hawtins set this year and Coach and he was pretty good, so ill check that one out. I cant say theres a specific subgenre of edm i like other than House....

Evil Nine and the Stanton Warriors are the breaks acts off the mix, so it would seem that you don't care for breaks. That's a pity. Check out the psy-trance and d 'n b.
Certainly have to say that the Trentemoller mix is definitely a must listen to. I have played this for people at my work and had them plus customers asking who it was. Good stuff.
As for my favs. I'd have to say:
Carl Cox
Justice
Portishead
Sven Vath
and Groove Armada
And just to stray a bit I'd have to say Adam Freelands Global Underground set is also a big hit.
