Even moreso, since the advent of online gaming networks, they better make a way to transfer games you purchased online to the new system along with your stats. 90% of the games I own are house din my PS3 hard drive.

If consoles don't become network universal, or however you would explain stat tracking and mulitplayer console crossing, then I'll probably just forget about future purchases involving any kind of mp (what's the point if you can't prove your worth against others, and learn while getting dealt with?). I got my 360 and found out quick that I not only had to pay for the online service, but also wouldn't be able to play with/against any of my friends, as ps3 is more popular with the people I know. Also, if consoles could give blowjobs, and make turkey sandwiches. Thank you, Sony Clause.

i'm sure they will. also considering the fact that dlc exists now which didn't exist on the ps2 means that it makes more sense for them to support backwards compatibility.
