It's a great experience top to bottom, the combination of their fantastic menu along with their top notch in-house beers is probably the closest thing people in LA will have to a flawless brewery (beer AND food) without having to make a trip farther south.

Heather brought me some leftover barbecue a couple months ago. It was delicious.

Getting a growler or two of blind pig would be worth the trip alone. But I've heard a lot of stuff they have on tap up there is hit or miss.

Thought about heading down to port/lost abbey this weekend for their anniversary but I have to work early on Sunday. Probably not in my best interest.

You are correct, Mongo is a double (or imperial) IPA and Wipeout is a regular IPA.

Wipeout IPA is good for being a $4 bomber. I'll buy that as a convenience good sometimes when I'm at my local liquor store. Older viscosity is my favorite port beer.

Has anyone gone to any previous Session Fests at Eagle Rock Brewery?

I'm thinking about going tomorrow. For those who are not aware, event details:

As we start to transition into the warmer months, it's time again to celebrate our favorite type of day-drinking beers.... SESSION BEERS!
Join us for our 4th Annual Session Fest where you get to sample low abv brews from your favorite brewery team! Yup, each member of the Eagle Rock Brewery team gets to come up with a fun recipe to serve up for the day. This year, to embrace our ever-growing community of local breweries, we'll also have session beers brewed by other local breweries for you to try!
    Here's the current list:
Craftsman Brewing • Beachwood BBQ & Brewing • Ladyface Brewing • Kinetic Brewing • Bravery Brewing • Golden Road Brewery • Monkish Brewing • Wolf Creek Brewery • Smog City • Three Weavers • Brewery at Abigaile • Alosta Brewing
The deets? For just $15, you'll get a commemorative session fest glass and 3 beers. Additional drink tickets will be available for sale since we know you'll wanna try more than just 3 beers. And the beauty of session beers is that you can try more without being irresponsible!

If you to pick up a bottle of their dairy tank milk stout. It's a collab they did with alesmith, I can't find it anywhere.

In other news I just spend $45 on a bottle of firestone 15.

I went to Seattle a couple days ago. First time there. Went to a nano brewery called Outlander that's in an old house and was very cool. They've been open about a year and have brewed 200 different beers. Had dinner at Brouwer's, a Belgian restaurant with great food and a very nice beer selection. Then went to Fremont Brewing, which was a nice place with a big patio but the beers were just average.

Then I went to Bottleworks, where this happened:

I went in 2012. It was a lot of fun! At that time the beers were only brewed by Eagle Rock brewers, but there were still a lot of really interesting beers.

Almanac's Farmer's Reserve Blackberry might be my favorite release of their's yet. The perfect amount of sour funk, maybe not enough blackberry flavor though. One of the beer buyers at Artisan Wine Depot told me that he's saved a case of everything Almanac has released this year and that they will be doing an end of the year tasting of everything in December. I'm looking forward to trying their Dogpatch Strawberry release as well.

Ramirez has several bottles of the Alamanac beers right now and I just haven't been able to get myself to spend $10 of those 12oz bottles. I was just holding them in my hands tonight. I should though.

I think a bottle of Dogpatch sour is easily worth the $10. Plus if you to buy three that equals out to 1064.6 ml which isn't bad comparing to a Cascade or Cantillon.

I tried a bottle of Gigantic ' s Too Much Coffee which is an Imperial Saison with pressed coffee last night. I thought it was really good and thought to myself that thin to medium body beers really go much better with coffee than Stouts do especially coffee IPAs.

Golden Road did a coffee beer as a low abv (3.8%) English dark mild, brewed with local roastery Handsome coffee. It was called Mildly Handsome. it was amazing how different it was from the coffee stouts and porters I am used to - it really tasted just like a slightly bubbly cold-brewed coffee. it was really excellent.

I headed there after getting my AF tix from SB Bowl that morning. Lizards Mouth is solid and had 2 glasses before noon and took a growler home as well. I can't wait to get some bottles. They did let me know that I could bring any growler to refill at their SB location. Not sure about Buellton.

Just had my first Double Actuator IPA by Bottle Logic today. It pours a golden orange and has a very fruity aroma (papaya, tangerine come to mind). The taste is medium bodied, quite bitter (citrus notes all over) but with not a very malty backbone. I was surprised at 10% abv it really goes down smooth and can't wait to try it on draft.

Just hit the mother load in a trade with my buddy out of Michigan. In three packages I received eight Zombie Dust's, eight Bell's Black Note Stouts, one 2013 Dark Lord, two 2014 KBS, one from 2013 and another from 2012, one bomber of Pipeworks' Ninja vs Unicorn, and Bell's Batch 9000.

So far I've tried a Zombie Dust and Ninja vs Unicorn and they're both fantastic!

Has anyone tried Knee Deep Brewing - Hop Shortage yet? I had one last night, 11.6% ABV triple IPA. it put me on my ass but it was pretty damn tasty, it does have a noticable alcohol sweetness but its rounded pretty well with the hops.

You should! I just had the Dogpatch Strawberry and it was delicious. That one, the Farmer's Reserve Pluot, and the Bourbon Sour Porter are my favorites, I think.

Do any of you have any must-visit recommendations for breweries in Portland? Zack and I are definitely hitting up Cascade. We're only there for a day and a half, so there's not tons of time.

I was amazed at the amount of stuff Rogue had on tap that they didn't bottle.

I have yet to be really impressed by a Rogue beer.

I was in Portland for one night last summer. I went to Hair of the Dog and it was so-so. I spent hours at Cascade and loved it. But you're already planning to go there. Green Dragon isn't a brewery but it's a bar with a good selection and is a block from Cascade. It's worth hitting for some hoppy beers if you get tired of the sours at Cascade.

I want to see check out Hair of the Dog just in case there's some vintage stuff there. I went to a tap take over at Lucky Baldwins in 2008 where they had two vertical tasting of Adam and Fred which both were way better a few years out and Blue Dot is great when it's fresh. I've been to Green Dragon and yes it's a really good bar. I think Lucky Labrador Brewery is around there as well if I am remembering correctly.

I have been drinking a lot of tasters and pints this past weekend. The Casacade (sour)Blueberry, the Pugachev Cobra 2014 which is 13.8 abv Maple syrup Bourbon Russian imperial stout , and Société the dandy which is a lot of mango and cantaloupe with a slight bitterness have been really good tasty beers.
