I always liked Ballast Point's beers and their owner, brewers and other employees, but now that they're owned by a company that actively works to limit shelf space for craft beer, I have a hard time supporting them.

If you get the chance, go check out Cellarmaker's Quadruple Dobis before it runs out. Its a quadruple IPA and easily the hoppiest beer I've ever had, but like their other beers its not too bitter.

you mean new as re-released or a new recipe and called the same thing?

Texas now has Alesmith and highly recommend their speedway stout.

I had Speedway stout on tap this weekend! I never see it at bars.

I am really loving having Founders in L.A. now. I am a big fan of Centennial, and I look forward to trying the porter, which i've heard is really good. I have a 4 pack of Breakfast stout right now, which is SO good, and I was able to get a bottle each of KBS and Backwoods Bastard at Whole Foods, neither of which i've opened yet.

WOW! I am shocked that KBS is in California stores. This kind of gives me hope for a CBS whenever that is made again.

I've seen it at Whole Foods before I realized it was different from Breakfast Stout so I didn't pick any up. Sold in singles
edit: As of yesterday they had BCBS on tap at Toronado for beer week. Tomorrow they will have Lost Abbey Cable Car 2014 on draft along with a couple other Lost Abbey offerings.

They held some over from last year for the impending Southern California release. The new Whole Foods in downtown L.A. got two cases of it and they had a special event for it. I got there right at noon, and bought a Founders tasting flight at their bar, then i had to go and show my receipt to the beer guy and he pulled the bottles out from the back. The Founders rep i talked to said we should be getting more in April too!

I was at their release party in Michigan last year and only have had it on Founder's tap. I'm not really into that style so I haven't bought any bottles.

Treehouse's new release, Bright, a tart DIPA.

Mosaic and grapefruit and so much bitter goodness on the finish.

Went to Sierra Nevada brewery in Chico for the first time today. Beer was good and Food was amazing. My only issue with the place was the beer selection. I guess I was hoping for more of a selection but everything that was on tap you can get in bottles and thought that was kind of lame. Thought they would have had some sort of options that aren't in bottles. Beers were super cheap and got a growler for really cheap also so I guess I can't complain to much.

You ever try Double Shot Double Black by Bent Paddle out of Duluth? This year's release was aged for 15 months in bourbon oak.

I wasn't initially impressed by Bent Paddle, but they seem to be getting better.

I am kinda burnt out on barrel aged beers after the Dangerous Man flop. I'm glad they let some schmuck walk out with 3 cases and I only got the last two. Very mediocre. I hope the secondary market bites everyone in the ass #dangerousmanbettergetbetter

Cans or bottles? I've never seen them in cans until this year, but I'm not sure if they used to or still have both. All the locals places only had cans from what I have seen.
I won a mini keg of it from the local bottle shop today.
Also, it's seasonal and rarely is it found after Feb, so I doubt they'll have it there unless it's set aside just for it.

This year is only cans. And yeah, it won't be around during Coachella. It would be super old by then.

I'm wondering how the craft beer barn will be this year. It was a step down from the year before.

I own a craft beer bar, and we just started brewing our own beer. No plans to bottle or can, so may have to sneak in a growler or two.

How long have you owned it? I'm super curious about how running a business like that works.

    Oh man this sounds great
    http://beerpulse.com/2016/02/epic-so...to-debut-4076/

Introducing Son of a Baptist Coffee Stout with rotating coffee

(Salt Lake City, UT) – When we’re crafting a beer hops are not just hops and coffee is not just coffee. We, Epic Brewing, source our ingredients from all over the world; we meet the farmers and maltsters and constantly seek out innovation and quality. In our latest project “Son of a Baptist” we’ve partnered with 10 exceptional coffee roasters from across the nation to create a beer that showcases just how unique and special coffee beans really are.

Son of a Baptist is an 8% ABV imperial stout. It is not barrel aged like its father, Big Bad Baptist; instead its flavor profile was designed to highlight the complex and often unique flavors of small batch coffees. Instead of sourcing a coffee that would play well in a beer we sought out creative and innovative roasters, then asked them which beans they’re passionate about. Each resulting release of Son of a Baptist is widely different depending on the coffee selected. Some are fruity and sweet with notes of jam and chocolate, others are rich and earthy with a big roasted finish. Each limited release is numbered and stamped. The corresponding details and tasting notes can be found on our website. Each release will return to the Roaster’s home market where the beer and the coffee can be sampled side by side.

“Son of a Baptist shares some similarity to Big Bad Baptist but its purpose it very different. Son of a Baptist was built from the ground up to showcase coffee. By simplifying the malt bill and removing the complexity that barrel aging adds we were able to let the beans shine through,” explains brew master Kevin Crompton. “Initially we were looking for coffees similar to those we’ve used in Big Bad Baptist but the recent trend toward lighter roasted beans with wonderful berry and tobacco notes inspired us to seek out artisanal coffee roasters.”

Son of a Baptist will only be available on draft this spring with plans to introduce 12oz cans in late 2016. Below is a list of coffee roasters and markets for the initial draft release.

So I had Sierra Nevada 35th Anniversary ale tonight. It was good but probably not worth the expensive bottle price but you see it on draft it's very good. Also had Dogfish head 120 minute IPA and holy shit that beer kicked my ass. Tasted like your regular Dogfish IPA but way more intense. A 10 oz pour at 18% ABV took me about 45 minutes to finish so enough said right there. However can not recommend it enough as it was really tasty.

Also not a big fan of sours but Almanc Valley of the Heart Delight might be the best sour I've had and makes me want to re examine sours and maybe all of my previous ones I've had have just been bad choices.

when I had the 120 minute IPA it tasted nothing like the 60 or 90 minute IPAs at all. or any IPA, for that matter.
