Hey friends, this weekend is the kick off of craft beer week in Pittsburgh. Anyone have any recommendations for things I should definitely check out off the calender? http://pittsburghcraftbeerweek.com/

I opened the other Lengthwise beer I had tonight and it's fantastic. Ale Ya is a double IPA that is fresh-hopped. It's 9%, but drinks like a fresh 5%er. Super clean and crisp, I could get into serious trouble with this.

I also have a Kern River Double White IPA and Almanac Strawberry sour sitting in the fridge. Jack White better be entertaining.

Never heard of or had Bells' Two Hearted before hitting the Craft Beer Barn on Sat. What an awesome surprise.

I've yet to have a bad Bells beer. Oberon used to be my jam, but I'm thinking Two Hearted is even better.

The Bell's Brewery beers I've had have been...ok I guess? I'm not sure I understand what all the hoopla is all about...supposedly beer geeks had been hoping and pleading to get it out here, and now it's here. It's solid stuff, just nothing that makes me want to return to it very often.

Not yet. I'm broke til payday, and when I did have money, I couldn't buy a growler at one of the few places in Pittsburgh it's easy to get beer in less than bulk quantities (PA has some seriously fucked liquor laws) because my ID has been expired for a month. Gonna try to remedy that this weekend, it's a 10 day thing so I still have time to partake.

So I coincidentally walked into Toronados while they were tapping Lagunitas Waldo's special ale. It was really fucking good. A high ABV and fruity tasting beer that really wrecked your pallet. Would recommend it.

They're basically the Midwest equivalent of a Sierra Nevada or Lagunitas. I think Bell's is' a pretty great IPA though, and I got a Hopslam and really liked it. The Java stout is exceptional too. they have a huge line. It's great they're here. The hoopla is that people grew up with them and then couldn't get them when they moved where they didn't distribute. That's it, really.

I think Two-Hearted is a solid IPA but there are loads of San Diego IPAs that I like better. Plus the Two-Hearted sits on shelves a bit and you have to watch out for non-fresh bottles. What I didn't understand was why they were only giving 12-oz pours of Two-Hearted at the beer barn, as it's not higher ABV than other IPAs that they were pouring pints of and it's widely distributed (at least in San Diego) and not rare.

I thought it was interesting they had some Rhinegeist beers at the beer barn, as they're only distributed near Cincinnati. I liked the IPA I had from them.

It sure was great being able to drink real beer and not just Heineken.

You can definitely get Two Hearted everywhere in L.A. now too. I've been buying 6 packs of it.

Hey all, I know some of you have come thru before. I've been looking for KCCO White in the L.A. area. Anyone know where I'd be able to find it? I'd really appreciate any help.

KCCO = Keep Calm Chive On. The Chive started releasing beer last year. I've only seen the Black, but I haven't been to my craft store in a while. Ramirez Beverage Center in Boyle Heights on Olympic is a great place to look though.

My search skills are failing me. Can someone recommend a website that you can browse beer ratings by country?
