Yup. The Verticals were made to age. 12 has aged nicely.

Just picked up three bottles of Prairie Brewing's Bomb. I've been wanting to try it for awhile now but haven't stumbled upon it until now.

Also, one of the best beers I've had lately was Belching Beaver's Peanut Butter Milk Stout. SOOO delicious and an easy drink at just over 5% abv.

Having the 3 Floyd's beer right now. I like it. It's a pale ale but is stronger and a wee bit hoppy. Also very pleased to find those 2 cans in the 12 pack.

The idea of the Stone Vertical Epic series was that they released a bunch of beers designed to be aged until you drank the whole vertical when the last one was released. The last one was the 12-12-12. Given that, I don't think the 12-12-12 was really meant to be aged like the other ones. Except for a couple, the Vertical Epic beers mostly sucked anyway...

I still have a bottle of the 12/12/12 that i'll probably keep another year or two.

Dude, I need to get on this. I picked up a twelver two weekends ago and really dug most of the beers. I especially enjoyed the Cigar City collab, tropical maibock, which was like a German IPA. Is that even a style?!

Haha, ok, well Huss is behind the big Coke facility at I-10 and Elliot. The owner is really cool and his wife is the GM for Papago Brewery and Huss contract brews for Papago so they usually have Papago beers on tap as well.

Totally agree that Belching Beaver's Peanut Butter Milk Stout is one of the tastiest beers ever...like a liquid dessert. Currently drinking a Big Sky Mountain Brewery Moose Druell Brown Ale which I used to actually like, but tastes "thin" by comparison to the Belching Beaver.

Hey, what did Sierra Nevada do to their Porter?! Not only did they change the label from Blue to Brown, but there's something goin' on with the brew, itself. It just tastes, well, different--and not in a good way. Is it because Sierra Nevada opened-up a factory on the east coast? Do they brew on the east coast now, or just distribute from there? Something's goin' on with their Porter that isn't quite the same.

Yes, Ivy, Untappd is terrific. You can check in beers, rate up to 5 stars, and write descriptions. it provides pictures of the labels, and you can also take a photo of the beer. It also uses your gps so you can check into where you are, and it recommends beers of similar styles. Along with all that, it's a social app you can add friends and see what and where people are drinking and comment on check-ins. You can also link it with your facebook account and you can earn badges for drinking beers too!

For some reason, I do not think I have ever had Sierra Nevada's porter - I feel like I never even see it in stores around here. Weird.

Also, I would like to agree with you on the Belching Beaver Peanut Butter milk stout - it is amazing!

I've really been going off on El Segundo Brewery IPAs recently. Didn't realize they were so close to work. About a 5 minute drive. I picked up a growler earlier the week before and have been picking my way through their stuff. So far I really like the Citra and the Hop Tanker. Also got a bomber of the Two 5 Left Double IPA I'll crack tomorrow with friends.

Besides the local brews, I hit Ramirez Bros today and got a few Mikkellers I had not seen before- American Style Prairie and AK Alive!. Saving these for something special... an FYF pre-gathering perhaps?

Here's hoping you have time to hit some of the other Asheville breweries while you're there, sonnyboy. There are a lot of good ones and a lot are within walking distance of each other.

Today I went to AleSmith's release party for Vietnamese Speedway and Barrel Aged Numbskull. They had both on tap and cask, plus Barrel Aged Speedway, Philippine Robusta coffee Speedway, Coconut Speedway (my favorite, it tasted like a Mounds bar) and Nut Brown with Vietnamese coffee. And of course the usual AleSmith lineup. I love their release parties...

Are you flying into Charlotte ? A Taste of Carolina is a great bar inside the airport and if you go to Noda district there's two breweries, bottle shop and few awesome places to eat and I have only been to Highland Brewery and a great bar called the Thirsty Monk. Also there is a total wines in Charlotte that had a lot of stuff I haven't seen before and great prices.

My favourite feature is being able to find places that serve a specific beer I'm in the mood for.

I just travelled a bunch. I drank ale in London, and cider from paper cups at Glastonbury. I took down mug after mug of crisp, clean pilsners in Prague. I also slugged down a bunch of whatever beer in Denmark and Greece.

Then I came home and went to Father's Office. For a Ballast Point Grunion and an 805 (among others). By far the best beers I'd tasted since I left. I thought, "hot damn, it's great to be an American."
