So I had Smudge pot from Old Orange Brewing Company. It is a Russian Imperial Stout with an 11.2 ABV. It was good, a bit strong tasting. I'm not that big on Stouts but I'm now curious about their other brews. Anyone else ever have any from them?

Have any of you used Tavour before? I just signed up.

Tavour is exclusive to its members and is simple to use. Here is how it works…
We are not a beer of the month club. You only pay for the beer you chose over the course of the month. Accessing our lineup of delicious member-only beers is free. Just create an account

Five days a week, we will introduce a beer that is making waves in your area in an email. If you are not seeing emails from us, check your junk-mail folder and add our email address to your address book.
If you wish to purchase the beer – just reply to the email and tell us how many you want. For example, you can say “I want 4” - a live person processes each order so please share any other thoughts you have with us. We love to hear from you!
Our relationship with award-winning craft brewers and distributors gives our members access to beers you cannot get anywhere else.

Your beer arrives fresh every few weeks (giving you enough time to fill a box and pay the least shipping cost).

Hmmm, I'm too lazy to go to the beer stores these days, so I'll give it a try.

This is an (incomplete) list of how one of our local beer bars is celebrating their 2nd anniversary the last weekend of June.

Almanac Valley of the Hearts Delight
    Almanac Dogpatch Cherry
    Alamnac Dogpatch Strawberry
    Almanac Farmer’s Reserve Pluot
    Almanac Farmer’s Reserve Blackberry
    Altamont/Ale Arsenal Collaboration IPA
    Alpine Hoppy Birthday
    Avery Tweak
The Bruery Sucre 6th Anniversary Bourbon Barrel Aged Old Ale
The Bruery Sour in the Rye
    Cellarmaker Special Hoppy Cask
    De Struise Cuvee Delphine
    FiftyFifty Special Dark Ale
    Goose Island Bourbon County Stout
    Goose Island Bourbon County Barleywine
    Prairie/Evil Twin Bible Belt
Hop Dogma/Ale Arsenal Coffee Stout Collaboration
    Lost Abbey Deliverance
Lost Abbey Angel's Share Grand Cru
    Lost Abbey Agave Maria
    Lost Abbey Cuvee de Tomme
    Lost Abbey Red Poppy
    Lost Abbey Spontaneous Cheer
    Lost Abbey Framboise de Amorosa
Tahoe Mountain Nitro Bourbon Barrel Aged Auld Bitch Barleywine
Altamont Beer Works makes incredible IPAs so I'm really curious about that. And I had the Almanac dogpatch strawberry last weekend from a tap and it was so good, way way better than Cascade's strawberry sour that I'd also had from a tap that weekend.

Haha, someone asked if they're allowed to spend the night Saturday so they can be there Sunday bright and early and the bar replied....there's 2 motels right behind us. Plan accordingly.

Mammoth Brewing Company's Epic IPA is a really good malty IPA. Just wish a six pack wasn't $10.99 even those it's still an ok good price for good beer.

That's why you gotta buy growlers the first wednesday of each month, when they're half-priced. A $4 growler of the stuff is very well-priced.

I brought Mammoth Brewing's Dos Osos, a Mexican-style lager with coffee, cocoa and cinnamon added, as well as a stone IPA collab with some stuff added. And yeah dude, the Surly was full of chocolate covered cherry, bourbon, and rich dark fruit flavors.

Stone RuinTen was released again. I bought one and currently drinking it and it is way to bitter. I mean I am a fan of bitter beers but this is way to much. I'm not sure if they have changed the recipe or my palate has changed but I don't remember it being this bitter.

Yeah I actually was going to buy that but then I talked a guy that worked there and he said it tasted almost exactly like the last one so I went with the RuinTen instead.

Yeah their ruination is on of my favorite beers from them. Don't get me wrong the taste of the RuinTen was still very good, but it was just a lot more bitter then I remembered it to be. It's probably the same and just me not remembering the taste.

Ruination is 100+ IBUs and has always been staple of Stone's motto for extreme beers.

I went by Bear Republic, Anderson Valley Brewery, North Coast, and Six Rivers. I don't think I'll ever have a super strong reason to check any of them unless I'm in the area. Almanac is the best brand in North California so far.

I'd still put Russian River ahead of Almanac because Russian River makes great beers across many styles and while Almanac's sours are great, their other offerings have been pretty meh.

Have you been to Lagunitas? I've heard it's worth a visit.

I went up to June Lake today for the grand opening of June Lake Brewery. It was started by two former Cismontane brewers who wanted to get more rural and wild with their lives, and they did their start right. When I got there at 2:30 they had the local food truck serving up some hawaiian sliders, a psych band from San Diego jamming some kickass tunes and samplers for people as we waited to buy pints. They had four (technically six) beers on tap for the reveal: a rather bland pale ale, a very tasty and nutty english brown ale, a smoked porter that was really rich and full of flavor, and an IPA collab with Cismontane that I will get again: a blend of tropical-flavored hops that makes a complex and fruity glass. They also had the IPA and Porter on nitro: I tried the porter and it mellowed very well, and I would gladly fill a growler with that if they do that sorta thing. The thing I really loved is that they have choices for growlers: a $30 stainless steel bottle that looks great, a $9 glass bottle and a $4 latex bota bag, perfect for backpacking or carting beer home for the evening. I've got a bota now and I will fill it up again.

I really want to get a stainless steel growler.

We stopped at Sante Adairius Rustic Ales in Capitola yesterday after the beach, and their Simple Amarillo pale ale was so good - smooth and light and just the perfectly balances summer beer. Their Simpleton IPA is also really enjoyable.

You would think sour would go good with Gummies. I'll look in to it, stink.

Hey can anyone help me with getting a bottle of Vietnamese Coffee Speedway stout? I had some last year on tap and it was fantastic probably one of the top 5 beers I had tasted in 2013.

That's one of the tougher bottles to find. I heard this year's Jamaican coffee one is easier to find.

Fuck , I forgot all about Jamaican Coffee Speedway Stout which I would like just as much if not more. I hope to figure out if I'm going to go down to San Diego for my bday which sometimes falls on Night of the a million zillion speedway stouts or if I'll just wait till after the new Alesmith Brewery opens up. Either way I'm really in the mood for a Speedway stout soon because they are marked up a couple more dollars than normal in the Bay Area to $13.99 to 15.99. I tend to always over look the bottle in the stores....... If anyone is reading this who loves Coffee stouts and has not had a glass of Alesmith's Speedway Stout. I strongly suggest seeking one out in the future.
