    Default The 2015 MLB Thread

Pitchers and catchers have reported, let's get this going.

Some good early news: MLB adds pace-of-play rules for '15, though I would still like to see more actual enforcement of the 12 second rule.

    44 days until opening day!!!

They made a change to the replay rule that I don't agree with. "Managers must challenge replays from the dugout. No more slow walks over to umpires on the field in order to stall while team replay mavens check their TV monitors." I'd rather have the correct call stand on the field rather than save a few seconds of game time and I think this rule change unnecessarily limits a team's ability to determine if a replay challenge is warranted.

As good a chance this year for you guys as I've seen in recent years.

Unfortunately the Dodgers aren't going to let that happen.

As a Dbacks fan, this year is going to be depressing. Watching a terrible team every night gets to be exhausting.

Here's hoping for a good season from the Giants rather than a repeat of 2011.

A Dodgers/Cubs NLCS would be just perfect.

Looking forward to the Cubs' season, and if they finish .500 I'll be happy. I'm thinking that pitching will be a shortcoming with Arrieta and Hammel regressing. Regardless, I can't wait to see how productive they are offensively with Fowler, Miggy, Rizzo, and (eventually) Bryant.

Moncada to the Red Sox. Because it's not official yet no word on the length of it but expected but as it supposed to be around 30 million my guess is 5 years. Factor in the Red Sox having to pay 100% tax on that because of some rule about it the overall cost is going to be 60 million. That is a ton of cash to spend on a 19 year old who people think is going to need a few years down in the minors.

On another note what are some good websites to look up stuff about baseball or just sports in general? I know ESPN obviously but I've found myself using bleacher report and truthfully I don't really like it.

The cash in the deal is just a signing bonus. They're basically just paying him for the rights to have him as a minor league player. There's no official length to the contract. They do however have 6 years to pay him the $31.5 million signing bonus in whatever increments they see fit. Once he gets to the majors the clock on team control starts ticking. They can pay him the league minimum until he reaches arbitration. So it's basically $63 million (that doesn't count against team salary) plus whatever they end up paying him over the duration of his time as a Red Sox.

Or at least that's how I understood it. Someone feel free to correct me if that's off.

Hell yeah dude. Are you there right now? Was literally JUST looking at their schedule. I'm going to be able to see them in Atlanta in July and LA in August. Hopefully in October too!
