And I'd like to say it goes away, but it never really ever completely does. I saw a dermatologist, but my cystic acne didn't subside until I met my husband, and was in a much happier place emotionally. For me, the cystic acne was definitely an outward manifestation of my internal emotional state. From that point on, I only got the garden-variety type of breakout, never as severe, and nearly always tied to whatever chemical had been applied to my skin. I am very careful, even with sunscreen, because certain brands will make me break out like crazy. So, being happy helped my acne. Not the sort of prescription that can be dispensed.
