They look exactly like the 2008 and 2009 wristbands.
1. Neil Young
2. Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band
3. The Who
4. The Rolling Stones
6. Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers
7. Fleetwood Mac
8. Stevie Wonder
10. Elton John
I got through in about 15 minutes, using multiple devices. Going to W2 for the first time.
So excited for the Sharks! Now, the Pens just need to put away TB tomorrow.
Bat For Lashes was one of my highlights, but without Lush, there was such a void in Weekend 1.
I tried to watch The Kills, but could barely see the musicians on stage (not to mention the poor sound quality). Bummed that this isn't on AXS, as I have the last two years saved on my DVR.
Jack White was streamed, as well. As I recall, only AC/DC wasn't streamed.
It was awful. They were issuing the wristbands at the gates, and it was horrifically slow going. Then the scanners went down. Some lines made people wait (like the one we were in), but other lines...
I'll be at Weekend 1 for my 13th consecutive trip to the desert. Hope to meet up with the group.
Nice stuff, so far. Are you still doing the Top 10?
I like this "one and done" entry process.
Outstanding! I'm out of the country, or else I'd be at the SF show.
Nice, Jorge. I will be out of the country for much of October, so I'm going to miss most of the tour. Otherwise, I'd be all over that 10/10 show in SF.
2015: Friday (18,708), Saturday (20,358), and Sunday (17,184). We took it easy on Sunday, or else I would have hit 20k again.
Overall, Friday was pretty good:
The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger
Reverend Horton Heat (late start; partial set)
Cloud Nothings (poor sound; partial set)
Oh, so sad if the stream cut off the ending. He had a group of dancers in white shirts and lighted necklaces. Such a fun ending to his show!
Agreed. Cloud Nothings was my biggest disappointment, and Lykke Li sounded great tonight.
Our one hour flight got delayed for three hours... just in time for rush hour traffic through Ontario / SB. So much for a relaxing day in the desert, but at least we're here. See you on the polo...
My Fitbit #s from 2014: Friday = 17,089, Saturday = 19,294, and Sunday = 23,543. Flew home on Monday (only 6,347).
There may be a few changes / late discoveries.
Rev. Horton Heat
Cloud Nothings / Allah-Las
The War On Drugs
Weekend 1: 12th consecutive for me, 10th non-consecutive for my better half. Hope to see / meet many of you there!
Yep. Based on seeing them a few times previously in 2005, they were a must-see for me. I remember convincing a few others to check out their set. They were my top act for that day too.
If you like Barry Jive & The Uptown Five, you might like St. Paul & The Broken Bones.
That was a great set. I need to get a copy of that bootleg!
Locker reserved. Does anyone use the complementary changing tent or charging stations? Somehow, I overlooked that they offer these services.
I was out of town when he played Sacramento, so I am very pleased to see him on the lineup.
Congrats. I wasn't listed in the point totals, but ended up with 10 points (middle of the pack, as usual).
Not sure what to say. I submitted it on 10/7 at about 3:30pm PT (just verified vs. my post on my FB account). I notice that fhoefosho is listed twice at this same time, so maybe his/her list...
Maybe I missed it, but I didn't see my predictions listed. I submitted mine on 10/7.
I can't make the shows. I live up north (Sacramento) and will be traveling out of the country for three of those four weekends. But I have a co-worker coming down for a couple of the shows. I hope...
Thanks. I'm going to check them out in a bit.
I would like to check this out, especially since the acoustic show will be great to highlight his vocals. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if I'll be available yet. I'm just glad he's back!
Kate's set was a very pleasant surprise. She rocked, was engaged with her audience, and even stuck around after her set to meet some of the fans in the front row.
1. Ty Segall
2. The Pixies
3. Warpaint / Lorde (tie)
I'm glad I only caught the second half of Dum Dum Girls.
Friday was consistently good for me. I saw 15 acts (mostly full sets).
My Top Three are: The Replacements, Jagwar Ma, and Kate Nash....
They were playing Prince songs between all of the sets in the (new and improved) Gobi.
The new app looks much better. Great job!
This pretty much describes my week. I'm wrapping up three weeks of systems testing, and my wife worked all weekend and the next two days, so I am juggling the kids drop off / pickup schedules...
Yes, exactly. I am going to make every effort to see this.
Yeah, the combo lock was a nice addition last year. Just the two of us this year, so down-sized to the medium.
I've never seen him, so he's near the top of my must-see list for Saturday. The Fuzz record is great, but I'm really looking forward to seeing Ty on (electric) guitar.
Bump. The general ticket sale always reminds me to order our locker!
One additional note about The Replacements: their singer / guitarist is Paul Westerberg, who you probably know as a solo artist in the 90s (i.e. "Singles" soundtrack).
Thanks! I was hoping that IAMX would finally make an appearance in the desert (aside from filming their videos there!).
Randy, thanks for the Kate Nash videos. It totally raises her up my list, and changes my outlook from her simply being the "Foundations" singer.
And seconded on the Goat video... that will be...
Very excited to (finally) see them.
