And who crowd surfs face down?
Looking forward to this one.
When was this? I saw this lineup, but alas only during their second run about a decade ago. Closest I got to the classic lineup period was their first Drama show in 1980.
We shelled out for the Meet and Greet when they came through Calgary last year. I got to tell Geoff Downes that my first Yes concert was also his first Yes concert. That was cool.
I did see Charles Bradley (mentioned above) at CFMF in 2012. I'd see him again. I swear he was still shaking hands with the crowd while the next act was underway.
Letterman from earlier this week:
Missed them at the Calgary Folk Festival last year, so hoping for no conflicts.
There are often slight font size and other formatting changes which can easily mask material changes.
I was under the same impression, but somebody online corrected me and said they do actually play it a fair bit. Here's some crappy iPhone video I recorded of them playing it in 2012.
Nice job, sir. Always appreciate you taking the time to post your shots.
Samantha Savage Smith is playing again this year. She's a local girl whose last album was on Arts & Crafts, and she got a little bit of a push from them. It's been two years since then, however, and...
This will be cool. I didn't know The Smalls in the day, but I've been a Corb Lund fan for a while and find the juxtaposition in his career interesting.
Which are some of the bands you're looking forward to? I haven't had much chance to research all the bands I've never heard of before.
Kathleen Hanna and Julie Ruin cancel due to a Lyme disease recurrence:
Pond (the one from Portland)
It was a quality set for an appreciative crowd. Great way to start the day if Bo Ningen is not your thing.
The STRFKR crowd was pretty good. It had to be, what with the crowd surfing sumo wrestlers, the crowd surfing astronaut in a rubber dinghy, and the blow up sex dolls handed out.
Mac still bounces around like he's a teenager.
Can I recommend Royal Canoe? Yes, I will recommend Royal Canoe.
Jason Narducy has been touring with them. He's backed Bob Mould (at Coachella maybe?), Telekinesis, Guided By Voices. Saw him with Superchunk at Sled Island last year. Although Laura was missed, they...
Growing up in Ontario in the '70s, television could be a wasteland of Canadian content. SCTV was a breath of fresh air. He'll always be Moe Green to me.
Slate's television critic made essentially the same argument today.
Here's a summary of the report written by someone who has written a fair bit about bullying.
Here's a pretty extensive interview with Nic Pizzolatto.
Matthew McConaughey is fantastic in this. Woody Harrelson is nicely restrained. And the plot is a really nice slow burn.
The creator also wrote a couple "The Killing" scripts. I haven't seen that...
Nevermind... Just posted the same KEXP performance without refreshing the page.
Apparently their new album will feature Jenn on the piano more than the guitar.
I wrote one years ago, and it was awesome. Last year it grabbed the poster when it appeared briefly about an hour before it appeared to stay. So that was cool.
Unfortunately this year they are...
This is a good live session, in case you need to catch up on some of their new songs.
I've seen them twice now, and I'm looking forward to a third...
If you're a fan, you have to see Gosford Park:
Written by Julian Fellowes. Much of the same feel as Downton, but less of a soap opera.
Please go on.
You are way more observant than I...
I sang so much my voice was hoarse on Sunday.
This is a letter Ebert wrote to a young girl who would go on to be the movie critic at Slate:...
Saw them in Calgary last night, opening for Lucero. They were in fine form. I think I'll catch them again.
Los Campesinos were a lot of fun in their signing session. Seven people in the band, so it took quite a while to get through. They signed a setlist for us.
I can't even imagine what this will be like.
A Wild Belle session went up today. I've updated the first post.
What about natural insemination? What would that result in?
Shovels & Rope
What were the three? I remember Sled Island, and maybe something at the Republik? What else was there?
We are due.
The Wombats have stated they're in the Mojave:
An interesting conversation with Mr. Daytrotter.
I'm up to 1926 Daytrotter downloads in my library. iTunes tells me that's 4.4 days of music. Just the "Welcome to Daytrotter" tracks are 42 minutes.
I find it hilarious that "Kill the Director" is about a bad movie.
Rats. I did not need to pick up another conflict on Saturday, but it appears I have...
Don't really know these guys, but this one song is somehow in my library and I've always liked it:
And a song called "Let's Dance to Joy Division"...
I understand that it is rough, but starting the Gobi at 9:30am is funny. Only because it might be necessary.
