probably random, but iPhone on LTE made it through before laptop & iPad on Wifi.
Kind of funny how people in the crowd got better Ryan Adams pics than credentialed photographers (who had to shoot from the soundboard).
Kind of wish they'd wait more than a month to give wallets a little break; but I guess there's always the pre-sale payment plans.
He'd just need to tailor the setlist to favor the less-precious stuff from Illinois and Adz.
everything else felt so smooth and put together this year, it's weird that they didn't work out the shuttle-to-vip path.
So much good stuff in terms of the overall feel of the festival this year -- the weekend one weather was dreamy and it's the first time in a few years without a dustpocalypse.
Any reports of how badly pricing surged? The app does include the surge pricing in fare quotes now.
It does seem like they keep selling more and more VIP wristbands without actually expanding the VIP spaces. The Drake crowd was nuts W1, both inside and outside the vaguely important pen.
The Rose Garden is the most pleasant VIP perk. But the new Terrace area this year was so nice that it made the regular VIP area pale in comparison.
The only modest advantage is VIP parking and...
These write-ups have me doing all sorts of bargaining with myself and my bank account: "... I guess it's not really that much more than VIP and a car and a house/hotel ..."
Will have to do it one...
The Hippos were the best; the music from Outdoor, Gobi, MainStage simultaneously mixing with the sounds from Corporate HQ was occasionally super weird.
I don't remember seeing any this year. Ever since the floral crown revival, they've been in decline.
We arrived fairly late (6ish) most days and there still seemed to be plenty of room in lots 1B/C. I'd say it's worth a try to park there before going to the other lots.
In VIP you just need to show that you have a 21+ wristband to order from the bars.
I kind of hope that they don't correct the (apparent) spelling error.
Bless Coachella for banning Selfie Sticks, but how will they weed out narsisstics [sic] at the gate? 12874
yessssss. very good. clap, clap, clap.
Flying into Palm Springs is great, but renting a car when you get there might be almost the same price as getting a taxi to and from the festival. In either case, having an extra day or two to check...
We got a fairly good rate at the Embassy Suites in Palm Desert at the last-minute after a housing rental debacle this year. The "atmosphere" wasn't especially cool -- it's a chain hotel -- but it had...
Maybe someone from the board or Reddit can help you out with that.
FWIW, I e-mailed FrontGate after purchasing asking about the payment plan options. At that time, they said there was no way to convert the order and that orders were non-refundable; now their twitter...
I also didn't see the payment plan option on Mobile Safari (my iPad was the only browser that got out of the waiting room all morning). By the time it found passes and parking, there was only ~1...
There are plenty of hotels in Palm Desert, which is a bit closer (but will probably cost more than the cheapest Palm Springs options).
We've stayed in hotels or rentals in Palm Desert the last...
It's a great mural. And honestly, in terms of identifiability, I assume that Le Grande Wheel doesn't stay parked at Empire Polo Grounds all year, right?
2014 wasn't my favorite Coachella (it felt way too crowded, though I know it wasn't as bad as the 2010 disaster), but we've been going for many I always have enough fun to lock-in tickets during the...
Missing the Knife this year due to the Outkast last minute "fake early" set time.
This was even worse because I was there with a photo pass and we had to show up at least 20 minutes before the...
I'm pretty bummed about the format change but am still holding out hope for the lineup. I guess I always liked it as a good excuse to both see bands and check out a ton of different venues. Usually...
here's a picture of all the passes from 2013: http://www.reddit.com/r/Coachella/comments/1cpejk/all_2013_wristbands/
were you wearing a purple Holy Fuck t-shirt?
Not that I ever to get past the lion-guarded gates, but how do you get them? Friends of venue owner/producers? Secret ritual society?
idk, I (luckily?) skipped the infamous 2010, but I've been going for most of the last ten years and 2014 weekend one felt more crowded to me than any other year.
Friday was ridiculous, and...
There are tons listed on Craigslist, but I'd look for places to stay on AirBNB or through a rental agency (check the camping/lodging forum for a thread about a bunch of people who got scammed this...
Maybe the stages started to collapse under the weight of the increasing numbers of "artist/guests" getting terrible side stage views of the bands so they had to give them secure pens in front.
I think the $7 was probably 12oz; the $9 was 16 oz.
Right. Guess I should've said "one of them doesn't mean being the designated driver". Maybe I just never have enough spare time in the beergardens to get tanked at Coachella.
I agree; during most of the day they were often empty, leaving big gaps in the audience. For the last shows of the night, though, they were ridiculously overcrowded, resulting in pushy lines of...
Neutral Milk Hotel
If you have at least a couple people in your group and one of them doesn't mind driving, a rental car isn't that much more than shuttle passes.
PMing you my mailing address.
Forgot to get a copy during weekend one. Anyone have an extra? Or can I order a copy online?
They had $7 (small) / $9 (large) beers of various Heineken configurations last weekend.
Sure, there are some downsides to being there alone, but the upside is you can see whatever you want whenever you want. Make the best of it!
maybe next year ...
Did anyone determine whether registering the wristband actually did anything? It didn't even seem like the stage check-in stations were even installed.
You need a VIP parking pass to use the VIP lot; but theGA day parking lot 1B at Monroe/49th (or the shuttle drop off or the taxi stop) will get you fairly close to the VIP entrance:

Aside from reducing the awful noise bleed, at several points in the day getting between stages was atrocious this year; I imagine that it would've been worse with the Do Lab back in its usual...
I saw a sign with all of them at the entrance to the photo area and artist/guest holding pens, but forgot to take a picture of it. I think there's also a "F" (field) and another for Empire...
