Is that a serious question?
It gets better:
- Rolling Stone
Pumpkin is going to have a field day with this.
They'll headline next year.
Nah, I wasn't living in Texas at the time. I saw them at the Fox Theater in Oakland and again at Coachella in 2011.
Mumford has a new "electric" album coming out. I'll be shocked if they're not one of the headliners.
The Chemical Brothers said they used to do full American tours but found it too costly. Now they only play LA, New York, SF, etc. I don't think it has much to do with the promoters.
Has anyone given the new Swervedriver a listen yet?
The Paperhead were added yesterday. Catchy stuff. I'm digging it:
I couldn't even finish Seeds. Felt extremely watered down. I'll probably give it a second chance, though.
No, I don't think it's worse. That said, The last album of theirs I really got into was Dear Science.
Yeah, I thought Seeds was pretty bad. However, I haven't seen them in 5 years and their overall catalog is great. That said, it's going to be almost impossible to get into this considering it's...
TV on the Radio will be doing an ACL Live taping on March 16th.
Just call them hipsters, bro.
Flaming Lips are playing ACL live next month during SXSW. I'm selfishly hoping people get their Flips fix in March instead of May.
Pretty good line-up top to bottom. Has anyone been to this fest before? Any insights?
Ha, wait till May and you'll be begging for the cold. Also, the ranch is less than 20 minutes from downtown if you don't want to camp. Really easy drive.
Yeah, that wouldn't be as bad considering the FFF crowds are at least somewhat respectful.
ACL would be awful. I can't think of a worse atmosphere to see an artist like that. Anyway, he usually plays the west coast regardless. Hopefully he does a proper date here or at least an ACL night...
The Tallest Man on Earth (touring with a full band):
05-13 Northampton, MA - Calvin Theatre
05-14 Boston, MA - Orpheum Theatre
05-16 Upper Darby, PA - Tower Theatre
05-18 Los Angeles, CA - The...
I heard it on NPR earlier today. It's definitely different, but it still feels organic. I'm really digging it.
And by "different" I mean its production. Violin, both electric and acoustic...
I don't think it will be as dusty this time around since Euphoria fest is a month before Levitation as opposed to a week like last year.
The first year I went to APF I ran into people from the UK, Japan, Norway, France, and Australia to name a few. I was rather taken aback.
In terms of discoveries, I'm really digging the Soft...
The only evidence I've seen for night shows was from a single post from the Mohawk. It certainly sounded like there would be night shows, but I suppose they could be talking about pre-parties or just...
Weird, it's been available to stream for a few days.
I don't see how night shows will be feasible considering what time the fest ends every night.
Anyone have a link to the new King Khan & BBQ show? It's not on ? for some strange reason.
LA is kind of a different beast, though. Who knows, it may end up selling out... I would just be surprised. It's still a pretty niche line-up overall.
Also, I'm just assuming 5,000 is the cap...
It's not going to sell out. I don't think it even came close the past two years. That said, I think this year will be noticeably more crowded unfortunately. I could be wrong, though. The only bands...
Yeah, I'm surprised this is even being debated.
Yeah, my house is like 10 minutes away.
Also, I'll give you some tips on what to check out, Frank.
That's what I like to hear.
Has anyone listened to the Soft Moon yet? I'm digging it. Kind of reminds me of a psychedelic Cold Cave.
Yes, I knew who the 13th Floor Elevators were before the announcement. I assume most people who attend APF knew about them prior as well.
Indeed. Sigur Ros at Hollywood Forever Cemetery I believe...
I'll show you around town. Are you flying solo?
I think a lot of people just don't want to accept the possibility.
They're both acts no one ever dreamed would headline 2-3 years ago. It's really not unrealistic considering who Coachella gears their bookings toward these days.
You probably had the same reaction when Drake was rumored.
My dad says butane is a bastard gas.
New Metz. Really excited to see them again.
Hopefully someone is nerd enough to do a spreadsheet or something.
New Metz! Really excited for the new album.
Yeah, that might have been a tad extreme. Comparing Jack White to Phoenix is still ridiculous, though.
I can't stand Jack White, but to deny his place in music (and comparing him to a flash in the pan like Phoenix) is just dumb. He's also fantastic live.
Simian Mobile Disco, Tycho, Four Tet, Ty Segall.
