Also is the reasoning for David Guetta --> Sebastian Ingrosso (instead of the other way around) that Guetta doesn't conflict with Radiohead?
Miike Snow screams Outdoor Theatre in my mind. I think they appeal to too wide of a range of audiences to end up anywhere smaller.
Flylo vs. Radiohead sucks, but I can't think of anyone else who...
I could see it going either way on that one.
I would think that Seun Kuti and Beats Antique wouldn't conflict at all. I'm not sure of the best way to facilitate that though.
Justice on the main sounded so off to me, but seeing it like this, I think it makes sense. And Girl Talk in the Sahara seems more sensible than outdoor. I still think Santigold ought to be in the...
I'd say switch Santigold and Wild Flag.
Move Beats Antique to the Mohave or Gobi.
Move Girl Talk to the Sahara in between AVICII and Calvin Harris.
And I'll add another vote to Justice...
They never play it live, but in my mind, this would be the greatest Coachella sunset song ever. And though it is incredibly unlikely, the fact that there is a remote chance the band might see this...
I would have to agree as well. I get that the King of Limbs is their newest effort, but a slew of older tracks instead would make the weekend for a ton of people.
Hmmmm... My card was put on hold a few days ago after 9 payments of around $50 suddenly appeared. Probably just a coincidence, but the timing is weird.
Bonnaroo was fun, but it would take a lot for me to make the trek to the farm again. Too crowded, poorly planned set times, hot as fuck, and the 4 day aspect with light lineups on Thursday and Sunday...
If you're camping, bring an E-Z up or some kind of canopy, and tarps or tapestries to put on the sides of it. If you read through other threads, you'll see other people mention that too. It is...
I wish they were billed for Friday instead of Saturday. Can't think of a better sunset set to kick off the fest. M83 will (hopefully) be a good substitute though.
If theremin solos intrigue you, you might like Neon Indian live.
If you've ever watched the youtube video 'Driving on Salvia' and wanted to 'trip into space,' you might like Amon Tobin.
If you like...
I love this clip. I have no idea how it ended up on MTV, but that's another story. Very excited for Andrew Bird.
Like the people who posted above me, I've seen some people get searched thoroughly, and some barely at all. Here are a few tips I've learned in the last few years:
1. Be nice to the security...
^This^ Every one. And I dig it.
I may get flamed for this, but I always liked how this song sampled 'Scenic World:'
They should have booked Infected Mushroom. Then there would be a real rare act at the fest.
I'm a big fan of the album. I think it's inventive and shows a lot of variation whilst offering irresistible pop hooks. I'll definitely be at this show.
At Bonnaroo last year it was all music. I'd imagine it will be the same at Coachella. Stoked to see him again.
Even if I don't agree with all of your MUST SEE picks. It's awesome that someone is taking the time to do this. So thank you. That being said, I do like most of your MUST SEE picks.
Completely in love with this video right now. This kid is going to be big.
Here is a really well-written article that came out after the LCD Soundsystem last show fiasco. If 'The Corporation' is fucking us, this is how and why they're doing it.
2010. It was my second year, and first following, but it was amazing. The day there was a credible Muse rumor - yellow undies. The day there was a credible Gorillaz rumor - brown undies. And I wear...
For me Saturday is a clusterfuck: Radiohead/Miike Snow/Kasabian/AWOLNATION/Kaiser Chiefs. Any of those, and my heart breaks.
Sunday, only Justice vs. Dr. Dre and Snoop worries me.
This was the smallest one that comes to my mind. Same time as Crystal Castles if I remember right. Looked like a fun show walking by though.
Really excited for this one too. They were one of my favorite discoveries of 2010, and I ended up missing them.
I'm pretty impressed with The Dear Hunter right now. All concept albums, and incredible talent.
Glad to know I wasn't the only one confused by this. They headlined this festival in Scotland over Jay Z, and are fifth line at Coachella? I was also surprised by how low the Kaiser Chiefs were....
Thanks for the input everyone. Definitely thinking Bonnaroo makes more sense. Also, when did everyone start hating Muse? I mean the resistance wasn't their best, but come on... It's fucking Muse
i probably should have expected this...
Trying to decide which to go to this year, and wanted to see if anyone has been to both and could give some advice. The headliners at lolla excite me more than the roo this year, mostly because I'm...
This wasn't coachella, but I think this is the most hilarious thing said at a concert ever. Also, anything James Murphy says ever.
This. Also, there were sound issues from where I was standing. Drums weren't loud enough to keep people dancing. And he was out of time in several different places. I understand that established...
Nothing says coachella like a slice of spicy pie.
The fish tacos in the camp were really great too.
I had a pulled pork sandwich one day that was $10 and pretty meh.
Really happy to hear this. I opted to see Cold War Kids over him, but it was a tough choice. BLOC PARTY 2012!
Crystal Castles - alice is so raw on the albums, but sounded really beautiful live
Freelance Whales - my favorite pre-coachella discovery - i was hesitant about how they would handle a coachella...
^^^ agreed. If you couldn't find something awesome at any time, you clearly weren't looking hard enough. There were 7 stages after all.
100% agree. These girls should be playing gameboy not raging at chella
I was up close for the keys and the sound was perfect. The lack of screens didn't bother me, because I was right there, but I felt bad for everyone further back who couldn't see.
Monarchy. Almost didn't make it to crystal castles, but glad I did because they killed it too
Bloc Party. They're getting back together later this year and are going to start touring next year.
Haha. My favorite was sunday night. Guy comes up, "what's my name, what's my name?" -pause- "Barbara Streissand woowoowoowoowoowoo" -runs off-
1. The Strokes - so much fun
2. Arcade Fire - i love balls
3. Black Keys - nuff said
4. Freelance Whales - was pleasantly surprised by how fun they were in the afternoon
5. Crystal Castles -...
Most blissful set of the festival for me. Perfect crowd vibe from where I was and they sounded great.
Odd Future was a pretty big letdown
Omar Rodriguez-Lopez - though to be honest it's just not my taste of music, they all were really good musicians
I love how genuine he looks when he smiles in the vids. He obviously really loves what he does.
Looks good to me
Definitely. Then Jesus comes out to close with Jesus walks.
Agreed, not a very relevant song, but it would be so easy for them to do it with Nas already there.
