Success at 1:08!
I'm hoping they'll honor my wife's credit card charge because she obviously got through and paid for 2 passes. I'm not all that confident though. I can see not getting passes and having to fight for...
My family of three goes every year. We got in line at 11. My wife used Chrome on a Chromebook. She purchased at 11:48, got a credit card charge receipt immediately but still no purchase confirmation...
Went on at exactly 11. Still waiting. Looks like the scalpers beat me this year
I agree completely. I see so many acts I love without having to deal with crowds, and the people who attend those shows are generally actual fans of the artist. If GV doesn't mind the empty tents I...
Cloves on weekend 2 was the smallest I ever saw. She started 10 minutes early and there couldn't have been more than 20 people in the tent and maybe 200 by the end. It's too bad because she's...
Melody was having voice problems from the wind but still delivered one of the best sets of weekend 2. It was woefully under-attended. Side note - I was noticed I was standing next to the guitarist...
Seemed like the crowd was far bigger and more engaged for Disclosure. If they could have guaranteed their guests for both weekends they would have made for a far better headliner than Calvin.
That's because there's no Saturday set times - they've got Friday listed twice.
Thanks. I love Carla's latest album and was leaning towards her.
The Carla Morrison vs Lapsely conflict is a bummer. Based on weekend one, any recommendations on the conflict for weekend 2?
I had tickets for SF on Sunday figuring their Warfield show for their own crowd would be different from the Coachella set. Now just keeping my fingers crossed for weekend 2. This was my number one...
Or play a 35 minute set. I would hate to skip him but I may wait for OSL.
Yeah - 2013 was ridiculous. Even without an overwhelming conflict (I'm not a GnR fan) I may wait to see her at OSL.
So Sufjan gets 35 minutes on the Outdoor before Ellie drowns him out
I woke up at 5:15 and checked. I thought "this is stupid" but I couldn't help myself.
going to sleep so I can get up for the 5:00 a.m. posting of the set times
The emptiest I ever saw the Sahara for a "headliner" was 2008 when Above and Beyond was up against Prince
Tamaryn just got added as the opening on several shows including San Francisco. Makes me even happier I'm going to Weekend 2 so I can catch the Sunday SF show before seeing Lush at Coachella.
They have extensive lighting that is an integral part of their show so they'll be a little longer than average.
I'll be 60 next month and it will be my 12th Coachella. I don't do VIP and I'm generally not there for the legacy acts, but I also tend to filter out the 2016 trends that will be done with in 2017. ...
I hope so. The lineup has historically lacked jazz bagpipes
For situation number 2 I sometimes just say "shut the fuck up." It works about half the time. I once tried "Do you even know who's playing?" They gave me a blank state and left. Either way it's a...
I loved that Bob Moses' show at Treasure Island. In a sense it's unfair to compare anything to that Darkside performance. I've been going to live music since 1970 and the Darkside show stands as...
Hoping their low spot on the bill will mean no conflicts.
I can't wait for weekend 2, so I'm buying tix to see them in SF the day after they perform on weekend 1.
This may be the best start to the festival in my 12 years.
I know this might sound dickish, but this is my 11th Coachella and for the first time I seriously think the bottom three line are better than the top. Get there early every day.
I assumed from Slugworth's use of the phrase "pop country" that he had developed his dislike of Sturgill Simpson without actually hearing him. It's so much easier and a whole lot quicker to develop...
That's the nice thing about being old - I can't be called a middle-aged loser on this board.
Listened to him with a predisposition to dislike just because he's country. That voice and his music have so much soul that I'm now really looking forward to his set.
If I recall correctly Kanye did not appear anywhere until the set times were listed. As for this year, I'm still going to hope for Aphex Twin because he was a late add in 2008.
Can't figure out why Doomtree has never done Coachella. Saw them in Sac at small festival and they killed as did P.O.S. in a separate set.
Agree. I'll be shocked if they're not there
There needs to be more Brody love on this board.
Then you need to listen to K.Flay.
And my son would actually see them for a second time. We're up to 9. If this trend continues there could be several dozen who actually show up if they play.
It is not possible to see King Crimson too many times in one lifetime.
I believe you are the first person to mention Gordon Lightfoot on this board and in an EDM thread no less. That is quite a feat. Now let's see if any EDM band can throw in a mix of Early Morning...
Thank you. This weekend will be my 10th Coachella and I have found an abundance of great music at every one. Maybe it's because I'm about 30 years older than the average Coachella-goer but I find...
I think it is correct to identify EDM cheese (but certainly not all EDM) as a "shallow trend." For that reason I have a "this too shall pass" attitude. One reason I can easily tolerate the cheese...
My wife and son have been arguing about this one for days with no resolution.
I went to weekend 1 in 2012 and weekend 2 last year. Because none of the shows I saw had "surprise" guests, I did not notice any difference whatsoever. This year weekend 2 is more convenient.
Thank you. As a Knife fan I'm going to give this a chance but if it sucks Hot Since 82 is the only option. I'll pass on electro-swing, dickhead frat-boy rock, and Skrillex-lite.
I would rather see those two removed from the set times. Oh well, with the adds I'm done complaining
I'm stoked about everyone added - especially Nicoloas Jaar. Twice in one weekend!!!
Pixies, Julian Casablancas and Nicolas Jaar all added! I'm going fucking nuts.
Between this and Bottle Rock, the Bay Area is getting total shit this year. Tom Petty and Eric Church. Ray Lamontagne and The Fray. The list goes on. Short of being the victim of a violent felony...
