Hoping their low spot on the bill will mean no conflicts.
I can't wait for weekend 2, so I'm buying tix to see them in SF the day after they perform on weekend 1.
This may be the best start to the festival in my 12 years.
I know this might sound dickish, but this is my 11th Coachella and for the first time I seriously think the bottom three line are better than the top. Get there early every day.
I assumed from Slugworth's use of the phrase "pop country" that he had developed his dislike of Sturgill Simpson without actually hearing him. It's so much easier and a whole lot quicker to develop...
That's the nice thing about being old - I can't be called a middle-aged loser on this board.
Listened to him with a predisposition to dislike just because he's country. That voice and his music have so much soul that I'm now really looking forward to his set.
If I recall correctly Kanye did not appear anywhere until the set times were listed. As for this year, I'm still going to hope for Aphex Twin because he was a late add in 2008.
Can't figure out why Doomtree has never done Coachella. Saw them in Sac at small festival and they killed as did P.O.S. in a separate set.
Agree. I'll be shocked if they're not there
There needs to be more Brody love on this board.
Then you need to listen to K.Flay.
And my son would actually see them for a second time. We're up to 9. If this trend continues there could be several dozen who actually show up if they play.
It is not possible to see King Crimson too many times in one lifetime.
I believe you are the first person to mention Gordon Lightfoot on this board and in an EDM thread no less. That is quite a feat. Now let's see if any EDM band can throw in a mix of Early Morning...
Thank you. This weekend will be my 10th Coachella and I have found an abundance of great music at every one. Maybe it's because I'm about 30 years older than the average Coachella-goer but I find...
I think it is correct to identify EDM cheese (but certainly not all EDM) as a "shallow trend." For that reason I have a "this too shall pass" attitude. One reason I can easily tolerate the cheese...
My wife and son have been arguing about this one for days with no resolution.
I went to weekend 1 in 2012 and weekend 2 last year. Because none of the shows I saw had "surprise" guests, I did not notice any difference whatsoever. This year weekend 2 is more convenient.
Thank you. As a Knife fan I'm going to give this a chance but if it sucks Hot Since 82 is the only option. I'll pass on electro-swing, dickhead frat-boy rock, and Skrillex-lite.
I would rather see those two removed from the set times. Oh well, with the adds I'm done complaining
I'm stoked about everyone added - especially Nicoloas Jaar. Twice in one weekend!!!
Pixies, Julian Casablancas and Nicolas Jaar all added! I'm going fucking nuts.
Between this and Bottle Rock, the Bay Area is getting total shit this year. Tom Petty and Eric Church. Ray Lamontagne and The Fray. The list goes on. Short of being the victim of a violent felony...
They are likely going to necessitate getting there very early on Sunday
I readily admit that it is hard to like psychedelia and hate hippy shit, but that's why I listed Temple, not GOAT.
To me "trippy" means psychedelic. That would definitely describe Temples.
Really huge sobreros that obscure the view of anyone with 5 feet of you. They ensure you maintain the personal space you need.
Nothing can prepare you for the nightmare that is Bastille. This will be my 9th Coachella and they are without a doubt the worst act ever booked. (Yes, I am aware of such prior treats as Neon Trees...
Doesn't sound like they're about to kiss and make up. Too bad.
Slowdive and Television put Primavera ahead of Coachella. And did Coachella balk at paying Kendrick Lamar to travel from LA? Plus we've got a bunch of tired old fucks in the Preservation Hall Jazz...
I've got gravel and bushes. No lawn, no problems.
I saw them last fall in Oakland. The crowd was more diverse than I expected in gender, sexual orientation and even age. Or maybe because I love PSB, my gaydar failed.
You saw shows in the late 60s & 70s? Not a lot of us still going to shows to make that comparison. Not sure there is more yakking as a general rule today. Seems to depend on venue and the crowd. ...
Wondered how he can afford to do the orchestra but now that I've read more about his video production work, I suppose he can pull it off. His tour lists no US shows other than Coachella, so for me...
Well they do play "nice guys" music. That's as good an analysis as any as to why they suck.
I can't give them too much praise in a year where they booked Bastille. They played a holiday festival with Arcade Fire, Phoenix and others. By the second song I left to spend the rest of the set...
Got to believe he's going to guest with Solange since they're on the same day.
May I assume their live shows have a volume level appropriate for the music? If so, I hope they are late in the evening so I have overnight to recover my hearing.
Ooops. Second solo album.
I'll take the same playlist he did at his last show in England. Great Roxy stuff and great covers (he did Smoke Gets in Your Eyes on his first solo album in 1974).
Hoping for the Yuma so it doesn't get drowned out by the Do Lab or some other lame ass crap. Should be the highlight of the weekend.
It's the one dragon a year rule. Count on Imagine Dragons or Dragonette next year.
Thanks. Happy to be here.
I fully expect the be abused for the following comment and know I deserve whatever comes my way: I first heard Vitalic yesterday when my kid was shopping in Urban Outfitters. The fact that I'm now a...
Seeing Modeselektor in 2012 is one of the reasons I'm so psyched for Moderat.
I've moved passed the stage of being excited if it happens to being bummed if it doesn't.
Only thing that could improve on 2011 would be if he has a few of the guests from the latest album. With or without guests, I'm really hoping for 2014.
