So what's the deal with Cobalt? Do they just not like touring? Do they live abroad?
The fact that they've only toured the States once is reason enough to pick them over Joanna Newsom.
You can't buy tickets for ACL live tapings and they're nearly impossible to get into (especially for big name acts).
Scheduling usually this bad?
We already have one suprefan dude.
There have been plenty of years where ACL has sold out and yet I don't recall there ever being a night show for a headliner.
I wonder why C3 allows Lolla to do this but not ACL...
There weren't any big name acts on those lineups, though. Nothing close to Bon Iver's level of popularity anyway.
I caught Broken Social Scene on the webcast earlier and they sounded fucking great. So happy they're back.
But you guys were inseparable during Levitation!
I like them a lot and I'm not from California. The songs on Chinese Fountain in particular are incredibly catchy.
Regardless, they should really be more humble.
I'm struggling to get through this Avalanches record. It's really not grabbing me at all.
I'll have to try again in a few days.
Did they really? Well, then. Touché.
I'm surprised the Dandy Warhols are doing two shows here. I've only seen them once (Austin Psych Fest) and they had a big crowd, but still.
Whooops. My fat fingers hit the wrong thread link.
Yeah, there's camping for the renaissance fair I believe.
Also, you would probably get back into Austin sooner from Sherwood than you would leaving Carson Creek Ranch.
October 21st - San Francisco, California - Warfield
October 22nd - Portland, Oregon - Roseland Theater
October 23rd - Seattle, Washington - The Showbox
I could see them doing it at Sherwood Forest Fair (where Sound on Sound will be).
Really rad spot apparently.
Right? Looks like it's from the hardtimes.net.
Man, I've been playing this Inter Arma album nonstop. Really excited to see them in a couple weeks.
Depends on who you bank with as well.
I'm really enjoying the new Aphex Twin EP. Sounds a lot like his earlier work (Selected Ambient Works 85–92 in particular).
I'm glad you caught the reference.
Anyway, I don't disagree. It's a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation, though. Not providing a timeline would have just made people angrier.
I still think they've stolen the money and ran off to the Poconos.
I think the email said it would take up to 48 hours.
Camping dropped from $115 to $75.
Just got an email saying refunds are being processed today.
I hear they're also involved with #theKochBrothers and #Wallstreet.
That Nails record is fucking brutal. Gonna give Inter Arma a listen next.
EDIT* Might be the shortest record I've ever heard as well.
Anyone else taken aback at how big Beach House has become? I like several of their songs, but eh.
Yeah, Beyonce would definitely taint the sanctity and pureness of Coachella headliners.
"Not a single rating for Bernie."
I've found several in the area. The people I've talked to said they'd rather drive 5-10 minutes each night than 45-50. Also, the shuttle can end up being overpriced like camping.
Pitchfork's review was pretty spot on: http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/21985-true-sadness/
Also, I'm surprised you haven't listened to their earlier stuff. Seems up your alley.
I know several people who plan on AirBnbing it. I'm going to try to do the same since camping is so expensive.
Hopefully we'll get details on the shuttle soon.
Yeah, I turned Cupid Deluxe off after 3-4 songs. I'll give the new one a try, though.
Also, not that anyone cares, but the new Avett Brothers is unbelievably bad. I have no idea what the fuck they...
ATDI canceled their entire tour for health reasons.
I might actually camp since the weather will be nice and cool. And yeah, 45 minutes is nothing. Nathan's family will be in town, though. So I get it.
Oh, I wasn't talking about their position on the poster. I was talking about them being booked period.
I haven't listened to Washed Out in forever, though. Maybe they changed their sound a bit.
Looking at the poster, Washed Out seems incredibly out of place, no?
Apparently camping is quite big out there and there's also going to be shuttles going to and from Austin.
And yeah, surprised Sigur Ros isn't on the lineup.
Thursday, Bully, Carcass, Protomartyr.
Yeah, I don't think I'd travel for any festival at this point in my life (except for maybe Primavera).
Anyway, my nerd friends who go to the Ren Fair every year say the grounds are great. I'm...
The majority of people have cars in Austin, so I'd be surprised if the 40 minute drive or whatever kept them away. A lot of those bands are insanely popular here, too.
I think I'm going to use my...
Pretty good lineup from top to bottom:
I haven't been, but apparently McDade is 30-40 minutes outside of Austin.
I really hope that Transmission employee was just bitter/trolling because Fun Fun Fun is no more.
Regardless, I think the fest itself will be scaled down some. I mean, $99 for early bird is...
