Whoa, they're still around?
I don't hate Be Here Now, but Noel is absolutely right about the songs being too long. The B-side 'The Fame' is my favorite Oasis song.
I did karaoke for the first time in years a few weeks ago. It was pretty fun, I did 'Dancing in the Dark' and 'Walk Like An Egyptian' solo.
It was my girlfriend's birthday, we both did 'Paradise...
So I bought a pass for this.
Did anyone here go to Psycho California last year? I tried to find a thread for it. Did the bands there get full sets? Were there lots of conflicts? Just trying to...
Edit: nevermind, read the details
This is how I feel about Lana Del Rey.
And while I like the 2 new songs that I've heard, the adoration over Angel Olsen is starting to bug me.
I wish that Diarrhea Planet and Band of Horses were playing the same day as LCD, but, whatever. I'll check out Buddy Guy, Vince Staples, and Anderson.Paak.
Tell me about Dragged Into Sunlight and Primitive Man.
Are they any good live? They're playing in Kansas City when I'm gonna be there. Cult Leader (who I have seen and liked) is playing with them...
I'm strongly considering going to this now, since ATP Iceland fell through. I have friends who are going too, though they have no space left in their room, so I may stay at the Red Roof Inn across...
Protomartyr only has 3 albums. I've heard the two most recent - The Agent Intellect and Under Cover of Official Right. Both are good, but I liked the former more.
There's a bunch for the amphitheater in St. Louis, but the only one that mildly interests me is Prophets of Rage.
I checked my account and I have a bunch of free and $2.25 coupons too. Even though I don't use TM as much these days, gonna keep an eye out for any big shows that me and the ladyfriend may want to...
Also this place:
Famous hot dog stand in Reykjavik. Relatively cheap and surprisingly tasty.
I love reading Pitchfork's sub-5.0 reviews. On Jake Bugg's new record:
"Itís like watching the Titanic hit the iceberg again and again."
Well, since the Iceland festival had happened the past few years with few problems - and since they were working with another company - I assumed it was more solid/legitimate.
But, I guess I fell...
I haven't tried this recipe, but it sounds so good. Maybe it has some tips in there:
Just to add - all the celebs going to Coachella now generates a lot of press for the festival too.
york707 made a thread for it:
I won't be going unless they add someone I really want to see, but I think...
Huh, I've never heard of this but that's not bad. FlyLo, Deerhoof, YACHT, Dan Deacon, some good names there.
Hey, LCD, nice! I'll go whatever day they end up playing. The undercard doesn't completely suck either.
I have a playlist of 100 of my favorite songs. First 15 that come up on shuffle:
1. The Nashville Ramblers - The Trains
2. The Screaming Blue Messiahs - Let's Go Down to the Woods
3. Daryl Hall...
Never doing the secret sale again after the lousy lineup last year.
Am looking forward to the lineup announcement, though. I hope Lana Dull Rey doesn't headline, but I wouldn't surprise me if she...
I have that album. I always liked the 'For the Feet' disc more than the 'For the Heart' one.
Me too. Going to the Kansas City show. Listened to The Head on the Door again today, driving around.
So, is Franklin Barbecue worth the multi-hour wait?
I've been getting into The Fall recently, it was nice to go back and find a write up for them.
Wasn't big on Depression Cherry, and didn't bother with the most recent one, but sure, I'll go to this.
The Julie Ruin and Protomartyr would be cool.
Glad that ACL finally got Radiohead, I bet they had been wanting them for a while. I'm not going, but if I were a local I probably would. LL Cool J is a nice get.
The Sonics rule.
Liberty Hall, The Ready Room, The Metro, Starlight Theater, Madison Square Garden, Moody Theater, Fox Theater in Oakland, The Mohawk, and Stubbs.
That's more than I expected.
Yay! Hopefully it's better than the last two.
Fuck, I'm shocked at this news.
Glad I got to see him live, in '98 and 2000. That '98 show (when he was going by 'The Artist') was one of the best shows I've ever seen.
Used CD's I got in Portland and San Jose this past week:
Les Savy Fav - Let's Stay Friends
John Cooper Clarke - The Very Best of John Cooper Clarke
The Ex - Singles. Period. The Vinyl Years...
I was at that Underworld show Saturday night and it was really good. The Fox Theater is a beautiful venue.
Depressing. Glad I didn't go.
Yeah, I'm even reluctant to wear my Swans shirt for now. I've already preordered the album (before the allegations), but the whole situation does make me feel a bit uncomfortable.
I saw Velvet Revolver when they played the Pageant.
I was shocked to find out that Gibby Haynes graduated from college.
I've given up hope that Cocteau Twins will ever reunite. I think there's just too much bad blood. Updated list of still kinda-active acts:
Blur (couldn't put together a trip to either...
I don't think I've ever contributed to this thread.
I thought the Black Keys were boring at Coachella in 2011. I checked them out b/c I had never seen them before, I was in the back, and their...
A few CD's from Reckless in Chicago yesterday:
Dirty Three - Horse Stories
Polvo - Exploded Drawing
Underworld - Second Toughest in the Infants (Remastered ed)
I've recorded and posted two new Zircona songs.
Head over to http://soundcloud.com/zircona and listen to 'Up the Dosage' and 'Immune Tonight', plus a cover of Beck's 'Just Noise'. The first two...
Someone at my work has a car sticker with that slogan on it. I never knew what it meant until just now. I guess The Chive is like Buzzfeed?
This. I think I'm done with Lolla unless they pull another exclusive like The Cure or Black Sabbath.
The lineup is fine. Good to see Danny Brown will be active again around that time.
4-day passes on sale tomorrow at 10am CST.
Strangely, I've never been able to get into New Order aside from a few of their 'hits' (Temptation, Bizarre Love Triangle, Fine Time, and Blue Monday).
I remember that, they kicked up a lot of dust. It was fun to watch.
And that 'Ruby Soho' band is Rancid.
This got added to today. I decided a few weeks ago to go again to this, airfares were cheaper than last year. I'm excited to listen to all these acts I'm unfamiliar with.
I saw them last Sunday in St. Louis, it was an excellent show. The whole band sounded fantastic. They played 'My Love Will Not Let You Down', which made me go HOLY SHIT YES because I had never heard...
