Got a little crazy (for me) over the last few weeks.
Black Sabbath - S/T (op)
Van Morrison - Astral Weeks (op)
Doc Watson - S/T (mono op)
Snoop Dogg - Murder Was the Case (12" single)
Been pretty fucking broke and totally unable to buy albums. Still...
The Ocean/MONO - Transcendental
Mono's side is also quite excellent.
Uh, yes, all pertinent advice is welcome. We haven't started looking for a place yet but need to.
My wife and I are moving to Hong Kong for 2 years for her job. We're pretty fucking stoked. But I figured now is a good time to thin the collection before it gets stored at my mother in law's house...
I need to get rid of some albums before I leave for Hong Kong, let me know if anything strikes your fancy. Some leftover inventory, a lot from my personal collection.
Roy Acuff - Best...
Dude, I always hear you saying that.
I was busy all day yesterday, how was the Alvin Brothers' set?
Emmylou always closes the Banjo on Sunday. Ralph Stanley & Clinch Mountain Boys usually precede her. I hope he's alright. Dude is fucking old.
Dude, this shit is awesome, thanks for the rec. I'm only a metal noob and don't know my elbow from my asshole in the genre, but this is the kind of shit I can really dig on.
Thanks for the recommendation. I'm digging this album.
Don't feel bad, Andrew, I'm in the same boat. Limited or not, I buy lots and lots of records for the sole purpose of selling them. Funny how no one balks if you do this with used records, but the...
Oh yeah, easily. The limited version of the first album is in the $150 range. It's certainly worth a shot, worst case I break even on it.
With shipping it was fucking $50. Ridiculous. I bought one just to flip. Frankly, I'm a little tempted to buy a second for the same purpose.
To be fair, maybe 8 people in Arizona even know who that band is. There will still be a copy for you at Zia next week.
Do you ever sell records? I keep all the good boxes to reuse when I sell on discogs or ebay.
Damn dude, free? That's an insane haul.
Come on, man, post that video somewhere else. Or make a thread. But don't post videos unrelated to this thread, that's just kind of annoying. (No, your Ride post yesterday doesn't serve as a...
Thanks man, I'm pretty stoked on it.
And this dude had a mono Sgt. Peppers, an original Some Girls with the unedited cover, and some other random shit I am excited to see.
But, really, most of it will be for sale eventually. Let me know if you (or anyone) is interested in some of that stuff.
It's a pretty serious lot. I bought it with the intention of selling all but Bitches Brew and Ascension, but the more I discover the more I want to keep. So much Impulse stuff. And "Let My Children...
Picked up a pretty cool lot of records from my buddy's dad. This is just the jazz, there were also 100+ pretty standard rock/r&b/soundtrack albums.
Mose Allison - Seventh Son
Mose Allison -...
That's a crazy good score.
Re: Holy Mountain:
I got the shipping notification literally the day after I arrived in Phoenix. I immediately changed my address but unfortunately no one has it....
I have multiple copies of Finley's Heroes. The facial hair on that team was incredible.
I probably do, I will check my stuff when I get to Phoenix next week.
Re: Organizing Albums
My neighbor is an SF native and collects albums that were recorded here in the city, or at least in the general Bay Area. He organizes his SF records by studio/location. ...
How are you defining "classic" rock? A combination of style & time period? Breaking down genres into sub-sets and sub-sub-sets gets tricky.
Al Green - Call Me (!!!!!!)
Bobby Bland - Dreamer (!!!!!!)
Freddie King - Woman Across the River
Don't Be Denied?!?!?!?!
Fuck anybody tryin to talk shit on Neil at that point. I'd pay good money to watch him play that song alone.
Kendrick Lamar - To Pimp a Butterfly (unofficial)
Seems more likely they're worried about moving enough units to justify the cost/time required for a vinyl pressing. I can't even remember the last time I heard that name mentioned.
SPEAKING OF CREASED JACKETS ....
Insound sent along Anthropocentric to me. The box arrived today all fucking smashed and destroyed, and the record jacket is badly warped/creased. If the discs are...
That's pretty wild. I get stuff from the store that's fucking creased up and see no discount. Nice score on all counts.
That does sound (potentially) really cool.
Damn, that's disapponting to hear, Chris. I really loved their set at the Fillmore and definitely didn't get the impression they were phoning it in. But you're right, they're old dudes now and don't...
Steve Kimock. Or Warren Haynes. Or someone who has previously been paid to imitate Garcia. I know it feels a little weird to mix the tribes, but who better than Trey? Different style, but highly...
Got an email telling me they will just send me a copy of Anthropocentric. Nice.
I know! What.the.fuck.
I'm still waiting to hear back and am really hoping they just send me a stand-alone copy of the second record. The box is cool, the astrological chart on Heliocentric is...
Yes. He seemed a little uncomfortable at first but really settled in with a really hot lead on "Cream Puff War." Trey rehearsed his ass off and it really showed. I'm not sure the others guys really...
My order just got here.
The Ocean - Heliocentric/Anthropocentric 4xLP
Edit: Lolol, I take that back. Only Heliocentric was in the box. Looks like they raided it to sell Anthropocentric...
More like, "Over the Edge" now, amirite?
I kid; that's too bad, dude was a ridiculous bassist.
Last night was great. The band still feeling each other out but really hit some incredible highs on a setlist that could have come directly out of 1969. They even played "What's Become of the Baby"...
Electric Wizard - Dopethrone
Tracy Chapman - S/T (WLP)
Doc & Merle Watson - Ballads From Deep Gap
Pulled a couple more things for myself out of that CL lot.
the Cinematic Orchestra -...
I know I'm late, but Television at the Fillmore? Yes.
Damn, original copies of Watch the Throne. Yeeeaaaah ... I'll be snagging a couple just to sell.
Is that the one with the red jacket? That's a 5-star set. So good.
