How does the badge thing work? Can you just walk up, wave it in somebody's face and skip to the front of the queue? And is this true for the parties as well? I got a badge on the recommendation of...
Decided to give OSL a miss this year and am flying in for SXSW. I particularly enjoy the months and months of Youtube searching the bands. I'm looking forward to Yuck, The Crookes and David Wax...
Let's be honest here, recent additions have been the likes of Cory Chisel and Hiss Golden Messenger. Usually kind of mellow, folky artists. Not always but often at any rate. Any additions will be...
2012 was just stacked. Flat out stacked. 2013 less so but still very deep. 2014 much more eclectic and, as a result, for many people thinner. 2015 seems quite poppy to me. I dunno. It leaves me...
How does OSL fit in with Built to Spill? Ranger Dave's latest "Spilling the beans" could mean nothing, but in lieu of Instagram hints I'm inclined to read something into everything.
Ignore him, he's a troll.
Indeed. Good work. I'd move her way higher on the first page, whoever is still in charge of that.
I actually really enjoyed last year. The "thinner" line up meant I went to the Barbary and...
Someone on the reddit board pointed out Laura Marling's US tour's final date is in LA on August 6th with no other West coast dates. I'd put her down as a lock.
"Spring" as in Springsteen fever? Or spring fever as in the weather's unseasonably warm? Who knows.
I hope there's more of a drip feeding of hints. I may be alone in this, but I kinda like RD's occasionally obscure codes and instagram album covers.
The OG means something but I have no idea what.
Tony Molina on the Panhandle?
Missed that. Apologies. You are correct.
But I'm not having MMJ. There's no way they're playing. Like I said, officially out.
On the contrary. I think the excellent (if they can be arsed) Modest Mouse's tour dates line them up for National-type slot.
Edit the APE email puts Sharon Jones down for June 7th at the...
If anyone got paid to write that, they at least owe us a pint of Watermelon Ale.
My Morning Jacket officially out.
Well the suggestions for the categories for one thing. But Elton John is certainly not confirmed, and Run The Jewels have removed OSL from their tour dates.
The Neil Young year was just a ridiculous lineup, true.
But there were about 25 folk at NIN. I really doubt Sam Smith would pull a smaller crowd than that.
Seem fine to me. Though I might suggest a Twitter clue = confirmation.
I might go with
Possible due to tour dates
Even if it'd be twice in three years, his last set was a 40 minute blink-and-you'll-miss-it appearance mid afternoon show on the Panhandle. He seems destined for a main stage promotion this year or...
Ratatat on the Panhandle towards the end of the day would be a nice wee set, I think.
Why is Elton John "confirmed??? (Sic)" on the first page? There's no such thing as confirmed with a question mark.
I'll give you Run Tge Jewels though. Two years running? Is this a first?
The Alabama Shakes was the only thoroughly unpleasant experience I've had at OSL. It was a gross underestimation of their popularity. They'd be on the main stage were they to play again..
Do not feed the troll...
I really liked their first record and haven't heard the recent one, but I have to say they'd be a fit for the Lykke Li time slot from last year.
Not-entirely-serious-but-still-fun speculation klaxon!!!
Marshall Tucker band has a massive OSL sized gap in their summer tour. With the Madison Bumgarner thing, I would count this as a likely....
My thoughts precisely!
Hello everyone. Some familiar names from the last couple of years I note. Greetings to one and all and let the mindless speculation and excellent deductive reasoning begin once again in the lead up...
Good point. Beer. I've been enjoying the Rapscalliion Belgian and the Racer 5 ale, in fairly largely quantities.
Day 2 thoughts: the 200 souls who caught Christopher Owens' set had one heck of a time. Almost nobody there, but he put on a hell of a show, with backing singers, guests and cowboy hats.
Highlights of the first day for me: Mikal Cronin and Phosphorescent's incredibly tight sets.
Lowlights: Warpaint really aren't very good live at all. Much better on record.
Other notes: I went...
Phosphorescent - Warpaint - Mikal Cronin; not a bad triple header. Not much for the rest of the day for me though.
Well, today's the day. The last three months of gossip, speculation and mysterious leaks have been fun, but now it's time for a pint of Watermelon beer and a portion of chicken curry nachos whist...
That's a major bummer. Outside Lambs was by far the best bang for your buck in the food stakes, so to speak.
I didn't notice any other changes; they kept the relocated beer lands which is great.
Cheers. Good sleuthing on the time stuff. I wouldn't have noticed. As for that USPS thing, I think I'll pass.
Friday: Night Terrors of 1927 > Greensky Bluegrass > Phosphorescent > Warpaint > Mikal Cronin > whatever> Kanye probably
Saturday: Dum Dum Girls > The Districts > Christopher Owens >...
No camping out for me. And, fortunately, not too many conflicts.
Saturday; The Districts vs Valerie June; Jagwar Ma vs Christopher Owens vs Local Natives;
Sunday;Lykke Li vs...
I'm not sure that's true at all. But I tell you what, Arctic Monkeys on Twin Peaks has all the makings of a complete clusterfuck.
A twilight set for Lykke Li? Glorious. Perfect.
I get that people drive in from out of town and stuff, but it always surprises me when people don't arrive until mid afternoon. The early sets are where most of the fun of a festival comes from, for...
It would appear the super jam thing has been cancelled. It isn't on the email at all.
As for the lockers; $10 a day for a medium locker is fine for most people's needs, though it was $5 for the...
The additional acts have already been announced. Hiss Golden Messenger was one, which was an excellent surprise.
Much as I find the principle of paying $300 to stand in a tent all weekend a little weird, to each their own. I think they've increased the footprint of that thing - from a dome to a house - but I...
What has he done wrong? What Givers and SBTRKT have done seems to be bailing of the highest calibre. No different from Kanye bailing on his Japanese fans mind you.
For those of you outside the UK, the BBC's youtube channel is providing excellent coverage.
SBTRKT comes out of that looking really childish. Essentially Ranger Dave (and by that I mean the organisers, who actually haven't responded publicly) wouldn't let him pick and choose his time slot,...
Hiss Golden Messenger are great. That's a fabulous addition. Well played Ranger Dave.
I'd go with I Never Learn. It's her best record, with more than a touch of David Lynch. But Wounded Rhymes has most of her radio-friendly unit shifters, as it were.
