I think a Coachella sunset is the perfect setting for the War on Drugs. In my head that set will be among the best.
Yeah at this point Beyonce is the only possible female headliner.
Instead of U2 we got ACDC
Kurt Vile -> The War on Drugs
Holy Ghost -> St. Lucia
Beats Antique meets Dead can Dance -> The Gaslamp Killer Experience
Animal Collective -> Panda Bear
the Mars Volta -> Antemasque
Sylvan Esso is like a hybrid between CocoRosie and Purity Ring
wow, what a rip off. Kendrick Lamar/Robert Plant/Modest Mouse are headlining a festival that costs $500??? Coachella looks 100x better now
That basement jaxx set at public works this weekend is tempting
Bad Suns in the Nortec Collective slot makes sense as well. I can't imagine them playing at 11:20 am with a radio hit and all
I agree. I think next year we will see an EDM/Pop artist instead of hip-hop.
Daft Punk/Justice/Chemical Brothers/Deadmau5/Timberlake/Beyonce/Ed Sheeran
Arctic Monkeys/Mumford &...
Kendrick isn't ready to headline
The sub headliners are killing the score for 2015. But in all honesty, I think once the set times come out and people actually experience this lineup, it will be better than or equal to 2014.
yet experience time and time again effects our subjective opinion of the lineup. This explains why post fest you see a higher approval rating. 2012 had the Tupac hologram and everyone lost their...
Friday 2009 was the absolute best day I've had at a festival
Gui Boratto -> Cage the Elephant -> Buraka Som Sistema -> the Black Keys -> White Lies/Franz Ferdinand -> Ghostland Observatory ->...
I'd say it's a toss up between 2006, 2008, and 2010 for best "line up." (Aka: the best looking lineups for my musical taste). The only years I've attended were 2009, 2012, 2013, and 2014. So it's...
Of course selling tickets is Coachellas #1 priority but that doesn't mean that not one booking was dumb considering the other options. Like why bring Alesso back? Do you really think people are...
Frequenting these forums for some time now and I've noticed that you're a huge fan of St. Vincent. I haven't given her much attention up until now. Can you recommend your favorite songs/albums in...
worst day of music in coachella history
I agree with everything you wrote except for the Florence comment. I personally love her songs and corny is the last adjective I'd use to describe her music.
I just realized that there's 16 repeat artists from 2012 on this years lineup. 9 of them, I repeat NINE of these sixteen artists were Sahara acts. That's practically a 1/3 of the Sahara is repeated...
So we can safely say that Friday is your favorite day?
Cheesedick EDM is popular and it's almost to be expected at Coachella. Okay, fine we can accept this. But when coachella books guetta, ingrosso, axwell, alesso, and kaskade (all of which played in...
Now that we've had some time to digest the lineup, please list 5 bands that makes Goldenvoice look smart for signing, 5 stupid/pointless/wtf bookings that warrant hate, and 5 artists that should have...
Well, I told ya so.
A couple of things... Azelia Banks seems like the perfect artist for a late afternoon party on the mainstage/outdoor. Porter Robinson at 6:15 seems a little early to me considering his new live show...
Oh and you fucked up the times for Drive Like Jehu and Swans.
^not bad. You accidentally gave belle and sebastian 1 hour and 10 minutes leaving a 5 minute gap b/w them and tyler.
The War on Drugs scream sunset slot. Maybe Switch them with Until the Ribbon...
Indie rock focus with IDM and esoteric electronica in the background. I'm in.
I think its about a 50/50 chance so I'll take you up on this bet.
err muuu gahhh. You made your point abundantly clear and I agree with you. Kaskade WILL be on the main. However, my comment on "precedent doesn't mean shit anymore" was directed towards the notion...
Precedent doesn't mean shit after the shit show that was calvin harris last year.
Why is the mainstage designated just one slot for EDM on Sunday? You guys really like to put yourselves in a box...
Incorrect. You forgot that Skrillex was 3rd highest on Saturday and he was delegated to the Sahara. Much like Ingrosso^Axwell will be in the Sahara this year.
It was Guetta -> Kaskade in the sahara in 2012 and it will be Guetta -> Kaskade on the main in 2015.
sooo what about both of them on the main? Do you have a problem with that?
Sometimes bands get demotions. Fitz and the Tantrums are there because of connections. Not that I have any inside scoop but a lot of bookings seem to be political and I can see the Fitz booking...
The Orwells 10:35-.................Panda Bear 11:00-Close..............Dubfire 10:30-Close
I agree with both Travel and Mikey. So why not have both Guetta and Kaskade on the mainstage??? Again, they are repeat acts who've headlined the sahara before. Why not bump them to main? Calvin...
I said outdoor stages, as in both main and outdoor.
There's a big difference between talking during a show and having a conversation. If two people exchange a couple sentences every 3 songs or so, and you're annoyed, there's something wrong with you....
With how massive Calvin Harris' set was, I can see the superstar DJ's getting more spots on the outdoor stages. More room to fit the demand.
Florence + the Machine 9:00-9:55
David Guetta 7:30-8:30
St. Vincent 6:10-7:00
Fitz & the Tantrums 4:55-5:45
Vance Joy 3:40-4:30
Outdoor stage at night makes the most sense for St. Vincent; however, I think it's also possible for her to play the mainstage during the 5-6 time slot. COS and other music critics seemed to have...
^and 99.9999999% don't know who Ride is.
good job on set times though. Caribou AND Fly lo on outdoor seems unlikely though. How about making the mojave the "IDM" stage for the night.
Flying Lotus 10:30-11:30
look at the number of artists playing. Friday is noticeably shorter on acts than Saturday AND Sunday. Sunday is an hour shorter as well so assuming no changes to the lineup, ACDC will play...
Incubus Sam Smith
Deadmau5 Kendrick Lamar
My Morning Jacket
Tears for Fears
This is what 95% of us wanted and we didn't get it. If 2 of these names were on the second lines we would be talking about how great the lineup is.
Friday has the fewest amount of artists out of the three days. My bet is AC/DC goes unopposed much like Dre & Snoop in 2012.
but you can eat a dick.
