Re: Keeping your tent cool
Buy some emergency space blankets for like a buck or two a piece and put them over your tent.

Last year I camped next to some gals who had a misting system that they lined their canopy with. It had a pump-action tank to keep it running. Considering it was about 105 weekend two, it was a godsend. I had no problem being the pump man. Dropped the temperature easily 20 degrees.

No, most people just bitch at me. ;)
So regarding the swamp cooler thing, I ended up sleeping in a big tent that had one similar to this http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7279/7...9c47ba9036.jpg and it worked pretty well for being able to be comfortable for a few hours of sleep during the day when it was super hot out. However we were also under a shade structure. And this was at BM not Coachella.

I am desperately trying to make this airline friendly. Also, great 8754th post PF :thu
Re: Keeping your tent cool
Thank you for the great ideas, going to be makin me a swamp cooler :)
Re: Keeping your tent cool
Ditch the tent, keep your E-Z up, and use tarps / sheets (With holes for circulation) as shelter. It doesn't trap in the heat the way a tent will.
Or… try to make that swamp cooler… 'cuz that sounds pretty awesome too.

Any tips for someone coming over on a plane? We're staying in a Lake Eldorado Teepee. Let's just say that it's NEVER EVER been 100+ in Ireland
Re: Keeping your tent cool
I don't like the idea of using the EZ up as my shelter because we will be using it as our hang out area when not sleeping (moving the tent out from under it). also we used tarp as walls for it last year and losing the air flow was terrible.. was considering using some of that camo military mesh

They sell the military mesh at surplus stores, although it isn't cheap… Another idea might be to use some old/cheap california king sized sheets and use a knife to cut your own ventilation holes. it'll give you acceptable shade, while not completely eliminating your airflow.
Re: Keeping your tent cool
a tent under an EZ-up with tarps on the sides, along with a tent fen that hangs from the ceiling, earplugs, and a sleeping eye mask, will let you sleep in much longer than most people. also see the official mist thread for when you finally leave that tent.
