Nile Rodgers, 60, was born in New York when his mother was 14. As a teenager, he was a session guitarist and toured with the Sesame Street band. In the 1970s, he and Bernard Edwards formed Chic, whose many hits included the triple platinum-selling single Le Freak. The duo wrote hits for Diana Ross and Sister Sledge, and Rodgers produced albums such as Let's Dance for David Bowie. In 2010, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, but is now cancer-free. He recently co-wrote and performed on Get Lucky, Daft Punk's global hit. Chic featuring Nile Rodgers are appearing at Magic Summer Live in Guildford this weekend.

This concert is going to be off the chain. I'll have a HUGE SURPRISE to announce in a couple days. I'll be updating the blog every couple days until the show
This year I've taken on many grueling task that have seemed impossible but so many wishes are already coming true.
For years I've dreamed of bringing a music festival to the New York City area - but wanted it to be accessible to everybody. A charity called AFTEE has given me that opportunity.
I'm throwing the 1st Nile Rodgers Dance Party on Monday, August 19 at the Martha Clara Vineyards in Riverhead, NY (the Hamptons).
I'm proud to announce we've sold-out all the tickets that have been reserved for the locals at the lowest ticket price. That's one wish down and two to go.
For the rest of us who'd like to help this charity and have a fantastic time in the process, simply CLICK POSTER TO BUY TICKETS, which we're handling in-house.
There's going to be me, my band CHIC, and some of the hottest acts and surprises on the planet that day... which happens to be around the time the next Daft Punk single drops (I'm just saying).
Beside all the anchor sponsors, new ones are coming on board everyday to support the Mission. DoSomething.org is showing up and performing service projects like a beach clean-up and a park clean up on their way to the festival, they'll also lend a helping hand on site too.
Though it's a big job, in my camp this project is code named: Mission Possible.
2nd single is either Give Life Back To Music or Lose Yourself To Dance.
Maybe an actual full length music video will come out at some point...
Apparently, Daft Punk is going to be on the Colbert Report next week.
I wonder what they'll be doing...
Is there any official confirmation on this? Cause the only things I see link up to someone who said they were at a taping of the show a week ago and claim that Colbert said they'd be on. (oh and a reach that because Colbert danced on and then off Fallon's stage to "Get Lucky" as being confirmation of DP appearing on Colbert)
With no other context it's a: hard to know if this is legit and b: provides no real indication as to when they actually will be on.
Yeah, that's my only source. Doesn't even say what day, either.
So they possibly will be on next week. No idea in what format.
so basically, yeah... take this with the same incredibly large grain of salt that one must take with any "news" related to Daft Punk...
I mean, I'd love to see what they'd do if that happened (largely because I think Colbert would have a lot of fun with it)... but I won't hold my breath..
So it is indeed official. Daft Punk appearing on Colbert show as part of the Colbchella series.
Tuesday August 6th
Nice scoop, HunterGather.
Wonderful! I bet they'll show up for Disclosure afterparty on Tuesday;)
I'm sure you'll let us know if they do.
follow up to aforementioned posts -- StephenAtHome just tweeted:
This Tuesday 8/6, don't miss Stephest Colbchella '013: The Song of the Summer Of the Century with special guest Daft Punk. Details to come.
You made me check my Twitter after a year or more of indifference.
There, there. But it's not as if I didn't put the quote for you already. :winkiss
Oh, I didn't mean that to sound so accusatory. I just added Colbert as someone to follow.
Well this will be interesting!
IT wont be interesting though. It would only be interesting if they performed. Thats just not going to happen, i would love to eat and shit my words out on that, but its not gonna happen.
I mean, I doubt they would speak to him outside of their costumes, or even inside their costumes.
Maybe a one-off performance of Get Lucky? But that'd be weird.
Maybe just some sort of sketch or pre-taped bit.
