Neil Young (and Crazy Horse)
Putting some album(s) out this year and possibly touring. I think there's a good chance that we'll all be able to see them live sometime very soon.
Quote:
Neil Young and Crazy Horse are going to play at the MusicCares Person of the Year Gala honoring Paul McCartney on February 10th at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Other acts on the bill of the Grammy weekend charity concert include Coldplay, Foo Fighters, Alicia Keys, Katy Perry, James Taylor, Alison Krauss, Tony Bennett, the cast of the Beatles LOVE, and McCartney himself. Eddie Izzard will host.
This will be Neil Young and Crazy Horse's first public performance since the Greendale tour wrapped up in March 2004. The group has reportedly wrapped up work on a new studio album, and just recently they posted a newly recorded 37-minute jam on Neil Young's official website that wraps up with an epic rendition of "Cortez The Killer." There's no word about a tour for the group, but it's probably a safe bet that they'll hit the road at some point this year.
Neil Young toured with Crazy Horse regularly between their formation in 1969 and the Greendale tour of 2003/04, but over the past eight years Young has turned his attention towards other projects. Many fans worried that the group would never tour again, but Crazy Horse drummer Ralph Molina recently wrote on his Facebook wall that he had no such fears. "We were just grazing," he wrote. "But never gone!"

Re: Neil Young (and Crazy Horse)
Greendale was so lame. But really disappointed he wasted a Crazy Horse tour on that.

Re: Neil Young (and Crazy Horse)
Obviously this news gets a big fuck yeah, but I'd much rather he did an acoustic tour like the one he did in '99. Picky, I know, but I mean, just look at this setlist...:

Re: Neil Young (and Crazy Horse)
haha, well he closed with it the night before, and Ambulance Blues >>>> Powderfinger to me. I've heard the recording of that show. It's absolutely stunning.

Re: Neil Young (and Crazy Horse)
as much as i'd love to see Neil in general, Neil with Crazy Horse would be a plus

Re: Neil Young (and Crazy Horse)
I just dream of a Live Rust or Weld sorta show. If I got one of those, I'd probably be good with concerts for awhile.

Re: Neil Young (and Crazy Horse)

Re: Neil Young (and Crazy Horse)
God I'd be so happy if I were at a show and he came out for a second encore, hit the guitar and howled, "Look out momma, there's a white boat comin' up the river"

Biggest rush was the moment when I recognized Love to Burn and realized Greendale (probably) wasn't happening. From there it was just one great Neil/Horse jam after another.

Greendale wasn't that bad, I thought it was an interesting show. And it was Neil doing what he wanted to do rather than what we wanted, so the energy was good. Plus, Neil Young is a weird fucking dude, and that album/play offered interesting insight.
The major redemption came when they opened their second set with "Roll Another Number For the Road" (!!!!!) and "Albequerque." Yeah, my dad and I just about died at that point.
