$15 a piece isn't bad at all.
$15 a piece isn't bad at all.
Its a great deal!
You might be able to find them cheaper used individually, but for new records that's a really excellent deal. You'll find Funeral for about $16 at a store, but the other two are pretty much always in the $20s. Do it!
Neil Young - Harvest
Butthole Surfers - Psychic... Powerless... Another Man's Sac
Butthole Surfers - Locust Abortion Technician
Butthole Surfers - Rembrandt Pussyhorse
Butthole Surfers - Hairway to Steven
Butthole Surfer records come out Oct. 1st. First reissue since original pressing. Only $16 for each of them.
I support having the ability to buy those records again, but I also hate how shittily they treated Touch and Go records. But, with those four coming out soon and the PCPPEP having been re-released a year or two ago by Alternative Tentacles, the good Buttholes releases are available again. Yay.
I feel so nerdy for being excited about this, but Discogs added the ability to view your collection based on when you added a record to it! I've emailed them about this a few times and I'm so excited to finally see that capability on the site.
Thom Yorke - The Eraser
John Talabot - fIN
Ellen Allien & Apparat - Orchestra of Bubbles
Scored at a yard sale:
The Queen is Dead
Back in Black
Rust Never Sleeps
and a history of the guitar published by Chevron, featuring John Lee Hooker, Leadbelly, and James Burton.
all for $20!
Holy butt, The Queen is Dead and Pacific Ocean alone would probably sell for near that. Rust Never Sleeps is a HUGE cherry on top. Filled with whiskey.
Nice. James Burton is a hell of a player. That guy played on so many great records in the 50s, 60s, and 70s that it's a crime more people don't know his name or his work. Seriously. Look up his discography. Keith Richards once mused that he never bought a Ricky Nelson record. No. He bought James Burton records that simply had Ricky's name & face on the sleeve.
Gus Gus - Desire 12"
James Blake - Limit to Your Love 10"
Picked up Pixies - EP 1 at the show last night.
Also, Death Grips is going to release an official vinyl release of NO LOVE/DEEP WEB in November; you can pre-order it from Amazon here.
Mail order + other stuff. Stoked.
Joanna Gruesome - Weird Sister
Terry Malts - Nobody Realizes This is Nowhere
Wildildlife - Details
dBridge - Move Way
Jeremy Greenspan & Borys - God Told Me To
Moodymann - I Can't Kick This Feeling When it Hits
Operative - Ramp b/w Pulse
Destruction Unit - Sonic Pearl b.w Nightfall
Wildildlife - Nurse Rewind (split w/ Flood)
Terry Malts - I Could Be Happy (Altered Images cover)
I checked out Wildildlife and I definitely dig them. Cool shit. Sounds like Joanna Gruesome is up next. I'll admit, I avoided them initially because the name.
You need to hop on the Terry Malts train soon as well. Real talk.
Even though i don't have a record player yet, I went to origami today because they're giving away FYF Fest merch with purchase and I didn't end up getting anything at the fest itself. I got
Fugazi - Repeater
Pale Sketcher - Jesu: Pale Sketches Demixed
And Heather got
Fugazi - 13 Songs
The Joy Formidable - Wolf's Law
And we both got FYF Fest zip-up hoodies for free
^Score on the free hoodies.
SF Public Library was loaded today:
Little Richard - His Biggest Hits (og Specialty records)
Grateful Dead - Skull & Roses
Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
Frank Sinatra - Sings for Only the Lonely
Bob Dylan - Another Side of Bob Dylan
Concert For Bangladesh
If you're into the San Francisco stuff the bins at the library also had Dead Set, American Beauty, Workingman's Dead, After Bathing at Baxter's, Volunteers, Bark, Cheap Thrills, Pearl, and a really, really nice copy of Old & In the Way (a one-off album from a Jerry bluegrass collab in very early 70s). They also had Graceland, the River, and a bunch of other pretty good classic rock-type stuff. Certainly worth a trip if you're in the area over the next couple days.
Bought Dr. John's Gumbo. Only two bucks because it was just the record.
Romanthony - Testify #2
So so so good.
Just got this in the mail. Possibly my favorite release of 2013. Beautiful artwork.
$30 worth of vinyl for $19 at Amoeba Hollywood. Get on it.
There was some sort of similar deal this time last year I think, so here's hoping it's a annual thing!
Awesome! I'll definitely be buying that on Thursday when I get money.
Just scored a copy of the "bootleg edition" of the Chvrches album. Limited edition of 500, numbered, etc.
Went thriftstore shopping today and found some cool stuff:
Brewer and Shipley - Tarkio

Rush - Moving Pictures
Ferlin Husky - Sings Grand Ole Opry Favorites
The Beach Boys - Surfin' U.S.A.
Eugene Ormandy and the Philadelphia Philharmonic - Bartok's Concerto for Orchestra (red vinyl)
KHJ Presents 30 Boss Goldens (look at that tracklist!)
in case anyone is interested, newbury comics has an exclusive limited edition gold vinyl re-issue of the original deltron 3030 album available here. I'm sure they mean yellow vinyl, but whatever.
they also have cds of the new album with signed booklets available, in case people still buy cds. I don't know what is up with the lack of new album vinyl pre-orders.
Picked up SISU - Blood Tears on appropriately blood red vinyl at the Dirty Beaches show last night.
I need to stay off discogs:
Stone Roses - Stone Roses
Housemartins - London 0 Hull 4
Human League - Reproduction
Also just mail ordered this which I know almost nothing about (but loved the couple of tracks I've heard of from it):
