Seeing as I already party like a rock star......:)
on a side note....I hung out with a traveling comedian a few weeks ago. I was in this tiny little ski town at a hotel. He did a gig at the hotel I was staying at. The comedian has to drive all over US and Canada on his own dime. He drives to small unknown towns and does comedy each night. Apparently he is on the road majority of the year....
It seemed kinda depressing.
Well, the assumption on all of these options was that you would be a leader in your field. So if you were a comedian you would be at the least at a Brian Regan level or higher..
I would say that Movie Star gives the highest income with the least amount of work.
I was going back and forth between Movie Star and Indie Rock Singer. So I pondered these two options:
Lead singer of Death Cab For Cutie....get to marry Zooey, play shows, probably make 1 million a year.
Will Smith - make 30-50 million a year, work 6 months a year give or take.
Indie rockstar, baby. Best of all worlds.
I'd rather have a hundred people love what I do than have a few million "kinda like" it.
Roger Ebert has a sweet gig
Anyone can be a DJ.
Movie reviewer for sure. Get paid to sit at home and watch people entertain you. Nothing is expected from you either. You are the one that decides whats good or bad, not the other way around.
Indie Rock star...seriously?
Shoot for the basement...
Yes. I love all the "earn as much as i can with as little effort as possible" type replies. Way to go!
As long as I'm not an asshole...I could live with that.
Bear Grylls isn't on the list. what gives?
Couldn't find Director, so next best thing: DJ.
I was at a toss for this between Rock Star and Traveling Comedianne...Went for Rock Star thinking I'd end up with a 2 for 1 deal in the end.
Henry Rollins or Mick Jagger. Who's funnier?
nothing that would take me away from my kids/family for long periods of time...so most of those are out, except for movie reviewer.
well, maybe a dj. leave for the weekend and make tens of thousands of dollars and still be home to take the kids to school on monday.
touring fucking sucks.
Yeah, it does, but I'm a nomad soul with a flinty antisocial streak.
Like The Littlest Hobo, but I don't rescue people from seaplanes all the time.
I always wanted to live out my failed dreams as a drummer in a mid level indie band.
I am having a hard time making a choice...
The Chemical Sisters: featuring Miranda and Feather.
I would be in an indie band.
the name of my band: Pigeon Pancake(out of respect for the pigeon i flatten with my car years ago)
the name of our first CD: Monkey Platter
the name of our first single: Freshly squeezed
Pigeon Pancake already sounds like a band Pitchfork would love.
yeah. wouldn't even have to make good music. it's all in the name.
I absolutely don't care what Natalie Portman's Shaved Head sound like, they're still awesome.
I've done the movie review thing for local and school papers and all you really get is free movie tickets and some spending money. I'd rather make movies but that wasn't a choice, so it would be a tie between indie rockstar and DJ. You get a fan base but won't get recognised as easily on the street.
On the other hand, I'd say people feel a lot more comfortable approaching/ bothering indie types when they do recognise them, because there's a more immediate perception that they're "one of us".
