I picked up the new High on Fire and listened to it at the gym yesterday. The shit fucking slays.
The Burzum, on the other hand, I will try to grab soon. I only have Filosofem, but it's grim as hell.

High On Fire were great opening the Dethklok show in November. I had never seen them in a place that huge before. I need to check out the new record.
Holy shit guys. I know you guys already know and have probably discussed them to death... but Baroness fucking rule. I don't listen to that much metal, but I finally decided to give these guys a change. And holy shit I wish I hadn't have waited so long. I have listened to both their EPs and both albums and I love them all. I have only listened to each once, but still, loved em all. So yeah... just wanted to let you all know.
The only downside here is that my Friday got even MORE packed. I already have the most amount of "must" see's that day, and this certainly doesn't help. Damn you Baroness.
Josh you are going to LOVE them live. So good.
I'm re-reading Lords of Chaos. I just listened to Emperor-In the Nightside Eclipse and now I'm doing Burzum-Belus. This shit is so goddamn good, I wish the people weren't almost uniformly horrible.
Should I go see Shrinebuilder next week in LA? I have some money. But I dunno. Haven't got really into their record yet, although it's quite good.
Pancakes, those shows are tonight and tomorrow. I'm planning on getting stoned out of my mind and going tomorrow night. Can't miss Wino.
Oh are they?! Hahahahah dangit. I don't know if I will make it but I'll try!
Anyone checking out Fear Factory on their current tour? I'm going to the show at Marquee Theatre in Tempe on 03/22. I'm really impressed with Mechanize, this show should be brutal as fuck.
The "Atomic Clock" was on point last night. Gene Hoglan showed he is a great replacent for Herrera. Definitely one of the best Fear Factory performances I have seen. Played about 4 tracks off Demanufacture for the encore.
i havent checked out much of Baroness... any specific album to reccommend?... im hearing good things so ill give it a shot...
On the recommendation of this thread I picked up Baroness Blue Record. I liked it ok, but found it to be a little catchy. And it wasn't as heavy as I'd expected. I'm still looking forward to their set, though.
Get both the Red and Blue albums.
cool. thanks...
I wasn't too familiar with his work until I got into Strapping Young Lad. I heard them for the first time when I saw them open for Meshuggah in like 2003 or so. Ever since I have considered him one of the best.
How's that album?
Its good. Nothing mind blowing or shocking. The extra track is a joke though.
Just listened to the album for the first time. I really like the direction they are going. Their sound has changed so much over the years. I got into them when Calculating Infinity was their most recent album.
Kinda drunk and bumping threads, so excuse me if I don't make the most sense.
I'm not sure if I have made it apparent but I absolutely fucking hate grind, and to add even more to that I despise Pig Destroyer. That was until I picked up this

Pig Destroyer "Natasha" I know it's not grind at all and that's probably why I love it. This album is heavy, really fucking heavy. I didn't think that techy bastard Scott Hull could do anything else, but this makes most doom look juvenile. So I started looking into other things he has done besides his grind bands and found a score for a film he did
Scott Hull "Requiem"

for the most part soundscapes that are just incredible and the rest is almost sort of poppy lying on the beach songs.
Oh shit bmack, you saw Shrinebuilder? Do tell, please. I am so pissed they are coming nowhere near me.
Dude, I wound up not going because I had so much homework. I hate it sometimes. I've missed both Shrinebuilder and St. Vitus because of homework this year.
Damn that sucks man. Anyone who has seen Shrinebuilder please give a review, if there are any on this board that have seen them or know of them. Please
I fucking love Pig Destroyer. I got the 5.1 Dvd of Natasha.
Haven't listened to PD in a while. I need to check this one out.
For people who DO like the genre, this is probably my favorite grind album:
