But I was there.
I was there in 2001 at the first Strokes
show at Making Time in Philadelphia.
I was there at PURE when Tom Vek
kicked out his entire band.
I told him, "Don't do it that way.
You'll never make a dime."
I was the first guy to mix Daft Punk
into Blur for the rock kids.
I did it upstairs at the Khyber.
Everybody thought I was crazy.
I used to work at Spaceboy Records
on South St.
I had every 2manydjs mix before anyone.
I was there in the Medusa DJ booth
with Boys Noize.
I was in New York City in 2003
during the great electroclashes.
I woke up naked at P Diddy's at WMC 2009.
I was there, on Friday September 24th,
2010 when a James Murphy and an LCD
Soundsystem took the stage at Making
Time in the Naval Cruise Terminal in the
Philadelphia Navy Yard, and I remember
somebody saying that the 20th Century
I was there.
Let's be there TOGETHER once again THIS Thursday October 1st from 8-10pm EST for this very special Making Time RADio broadcast on WXPN !!!
see you on the other side.
ps. Join me the following day, Friday October 2nd, from 7-9pm EST when I return to the WXPN studios for the October edition of Making Time RADio !!!
Gonna be great to see them at Primavera next year.
"multiple sources = some fucking knobs on the coachella message board"
If it were any other outlet than COS I would say it was probably true and going to happen.
So is this DFA account trolling?
Yeah I believed it only because of the DFA retweet.
Y'all are messing with my head.
CoS says it's so, DFA Records retweets it. Kris from DFA says "bullshit," then Billboard says they've got their own source who says it's happening. Entertainment Weekly says it's not happening, but then says in the same article that it might be happening. It seems pretty clear cut to me.
But what does Monklish say about the reunion? Or was she assassinated by the Illuminati?
I want to believe, I really do. My gut feeling as it just broke too soon and now the secret is out and they chose to handle the leak terribly. But it seems pretty 50/50 at the moment.
I also felt way too soon.
Pitchfork, etc. coming down pretty heavily on "not happening."
If this is all a big troll job orchestrated by a bunch of dorks on various festival message boards, it succeeded wildly. A lot of clown show music biz journalism today, and not just from the JV squad at COS.
I think DFA retweeted it as a "Look how stupid this is" retweet. I don't think they were confirming anything.
Says it's happening:
Billboard (claim their own sources)
Says it's not:
two DFA people
Maybe DFA thought "this will really fuck with people".
This seems like a pretty specific, Shermanesque denial to me, but who knows at this point.
I wonder if Kris from DFA is always that angry. Such a bizarre reaction.
I feel like most would just kind of laugh it off and say "Sorry guys, not happening." Weird he decided to go with "NO IT'S NOT HAPPENING YOU FUCKING MORONS!"
Bilboard only lists CoS as a source. not that they might not have other sources, but they don't list them.
The Brooklyn Vegan article is also just "according to CoS . . ."
Why are there so many exclamation points in the BV article - is Spooks a staff writer now?
Battle of the internet blogs.
