They ended up handing out extra colorful litho copies for free at the exits. Rejoice.
Tonight is the second night of the two night stand at Staples Center - tix available here http://bit.ly/TBKsatLA Gig poster by Mr. Brainwash is available at the show. 22" x 30", edition of 175. Five-color screen print on deckle edge archival art paper. Each print is signed, thumb printed and numbered by the artist.
Charity screening of Halloween w/ John Carpenter in person on the 27th? And you get this print from Mondo and Ken Taylor? FUCK YES.
damn $500 for VIP (which is the only package left). That is a bad ass poster though, looks like Im going to have to go though Expressobeans or eBay to get one.
Some people have extra tickets but they seem to all want you to pick the poster up for them and mail them it. Brown paper tickets uses a cart system so some are getting kicked back out. Funny because it was up all of yesterday with 200 tickets left for regular. Guess thats what happens when Mondo tweets about it finally, couldnt post before that hype came through.
VIP gets a regular and this variant, along with a Carpenter meet and greet. Charity right... Gonna be crazy if the variant run is only of 25.
Cutter did you buy tickets for it? If you've got an extra I'll take it.
I only bought 1 :( And the only people I know want me to bring friends so they have the poster themselves. Sigh. Random tickets have been released from carts though I read so check back.
I would have really liked to have gone to that even without a poster being available! I wouldn't pay $100 for that though.
Well, it is for a charity. So $10 movies + $50 mondo print of epicness + $40 donations and then your awesome time creepin on Carpenter.
Whilst not completely in keeping with the theme of new show posters I felt inspired to pull out some old posters.
This was a Bad Brains gig from 1993
And this was possibly the best couple of hours of my life - Fugazi 1993
Does anyone know if there was a poster made for the St. V/David Byrne Greek show? Just saw an awesome one for the SF show but can't seem to find anything for the LA one..
I don't think so :( I rushed in as soon as the doors opened to see if there was one at the merch booth and the merch guy said that no one designed one for that show.
A preview of Converge's Jacob Bannon's Frankenstein piece for the upcoming Universal Monsters show at the Mondo gallery. There will undoubtedly be a whole bunch of amazing shit in that show.
EDIT: Oh, not upcoming. happened. Coverage of the whole show:
And a link to purchase the actual pieces:
I want the Tong Bride so bad. And I'll definitely pick up the Millward piece. Perfect size.
I thought I recognized that Frankenstein piece from somewhere. Very cool! Lots of awesome stuff from that gallery.
So, this is mine now.
^ that is awesome.
They probably only sold 200 or so of the 700 edition run of it, so be on the lookout for it going up for sale on mondotees.com And there is going to be a variant edition that's yet to be revealed.
Mike Mitchell's first gig poster is pretty awesome
I've been a follower of his since his threadless days so maybe a bit biased but mike Mitchell crushes everything he does. So glad to see he is doing gig posters.
Yeah, Mike is awesome. I've known him for a really looooong time back on several art forums, way before he started doing Threadless stuff, when he was a real amateur and before he went to art school. it's been incredible watching his progression over the last 10 years.
Love this new one mondo put out at nycc. Should have bought one when I had the chance.
So Im looking for a Stout Kill Bill...
I have a sizable chunk of collection up for trade for it. You can see options for my side of the deal here:
I was just coming in to promote my boy Adam Jones' Primus poster, but I like Mike Mitchell's more.
