That match was a total blast. I sat in the section AO was in for Sounders matches all last year, and it's a hell of a party every week. I was on the opposite side of the stadium for this one, but it was still very fucking cool to see that section rocking as hard as ever. Great atmosphere and a great result.
Didn't know you'd be there Pea - we should have met for a beer! I was sitting next to a few Sounders season ticket holders and they said the crowd was actually a bit tame compared to how it normally gets. They were just coming of the back of a match against the Whitecaps during the weekend, but what did you make of it?
Seattle is a great soccer city. I was at the Galaxy Sounders game a few weeks back and the amount of people that came down from Seattle was the most I've ever seen from an opposing team, besides Chivas obviously. Memorial day weekend I'm sure helped bring out more but even the other games they played down here they still brought a big crowd. It really made me want to go up to Seattle to watch a game up there.
Just how crazy did the fans go when Johnson scored his goal?
I was at the match on Saturday against Vancouver as well. As electric as it was during the USMNT match the other night, nothing compares to the energy of a Sounders match against a Cascadia rival. Things always get absolutely nuts when teams like Vancouver or L.A. are in town, but in August when Portland comes back again it will without a doubt be the match of the season, with well over 65,000 people in attendance. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience on Tuesday though, and thought the crowd was spectacular given the uniqueness of the event. Those "boom boom clap" and pogo videos you posted are actually something the ECS (Sounders support group) does on a regular basis. It was cool as shit to see not only those, but a few Portland chants as well, borrowed by AO for that night. It was also really awesome to see such a well put-together tifo for it. Something else ECS prides itself on...
unit - Needless to say everyone was going totally apeshit when Eddie scored that goal. He might have a controversial personality, but we sure do love it when he scores! Let me know if you every make it up this way for a match. I'll have a pint with your name on it beforehand. Same for you nosurprises!
And boom. This is why I love my city.
really happy for the USA team. seems like its coming together for them.
Really excited for the Guiness Champions Cup at dodgers stadium! whoever ends up making it, itll surely be an awesome game! especially if Higuain is really headed to Juventus
Neymar had a game against Mexico..
Excited to see who wins today. My heart says Italy but if balotelli pirlo and el shararway aren't on the lineup I have little hope for them. Spain's 1st team is very well rested as well. It'll be interesting to see who stays up front. I'd love to see Torres start over soldado
It looks like Soldado is nursing a thigh injury, so you'll get your wish.
Spain starting lineup (4-3-3): Iker Casillas; Jordi Alba, Gerard Piqué, Sergio Ramos, Alvaro Arbeloa; Sergio Busquets, Xavi Hernández, Andrés Iniesta; Pedro Rodriguez, Fernando Torres, David Silva.
Italy starting lineup (3-4-2-1): Gianluigi Buffon; Giorgio Chiellini, Leonardo Bonucci, Andrea Barzagli; Emanuele Giaccherini, Daniele De Rossi, Andrea Pirlo, Christian Maggio; Claudio Marchisio, Antonio Candreva; Alberto Gilardino.
Jesus Navas is class, why does he have to be joining City?
Higuain to Arsenal sounds like it could be sweet tough.
So, this happened:
Player stabbed, referee dismembered over soccer quarrel in Brazil
Ugh. Don't remind us. :nono
Why did I just hear about this now, when it was announced in April.. I'm slippin'.

Saw these. Check out an Everton game. Excited about our season now that we have Deulofeu for a year.
That second goal he scores in that video is one of the most amazing set play goals I have ever seen. Seriously holy shit. That has made me want to watch a few more Everton games now just for him.
Deulofeu will be a great addition to your squad this season (although I can't really say the same for the three Wigan players you've brought in!). What are your thoughts on Martinez taking over for Moyes?
And goddamnit Arsenal, just get this Higuain signing over with already. If we miss out on him because of a couple extra million pounds/Euros I'm going to fucking lose it.
First time in so long that I've been to a live match. Kind of giddy.
Hopefully the rain stops.
Love the smirk of the guy in the back.
Who has been to the World Cup and can provide some tips? FIFA recently released ticket information so I want to gather as much info as possible. What is the best option as far as sticking to one venue versus following one team? I definitely want to watch the US play, but also want to see the likes of Germany, France, Argentina, etc. Also, is it best to try to purchase tickets far in advance, even though you’re not guaranteed the team you want to see if you stick to a specific venue?
Edit: Ticket Info
Watched part of the Gold Cup Final and saw the goal. If Donovan is credited with an assist on the play, that means he "participated" in it, correct? When he did so, Brek Shea was in an offside position and eventually pushed the ball through the goal. Why wasn't that offsides?
That match was BORING!
Ugh...Pretty disappointed to wake up this morning and read that my Valencia squad had sold Soldado away to Tottenham. This was rumored for years and rejected many times in the past, the money just got too good.
Fucking La Liga is circling the drain and becoming an even worse "2 team" league this year. Basically every other team has now sold it's best player. Falcao from Athletico, Llorente from Bilbao, Jesus Navas and Negredo from Sevilla, Soldado..etc. etc. As always, makes this league that much harder to follow.
Got tickets to see Galaxy vs. Real Madrid tonight. Should be fun. Hopefully attendance isn't pathetic.
