Well I'm excited now! No pressure, get to "Guero" when you have a chance.
I've heard the singles, just not tackled a whole Beck album. Geuro it is. My MP3 player is getting bored of itself lately, so I need to Beck it up a bit, I reckon.
although, Odelay! might be a good place to start too, come to think of it. It's your choice honeybuns
Do you know zero Beck at all? I would say start with "Mellow Gold" but that's one of his first albums and he was so young, I dont want you to get phased if you dont like it. "odelay!" is the most popular one and incidentally, my least favorite.
I say go for "Guero", it has the best mix of Beck all on one album. Fuzzed-out garage rock Beck, whiteboy rapping Beck, dancey Beck, Bluesy Beck, introspective Beck, Ballad Beck etc.
I preach Beck for the same reason, with each album he does something new.
If you're looking for Hardcore Depressed Hauntingly Beautiful Sad Songs Beck, "Sea Change" will change your life. I dare you to listen to the first 4 (FOUR) songs on that album and tell me you cannot relate in the least bit.
See, we should be married. Crown of Love is my favourite song on the album. People talk about Rebellion or Tunnels, but they're the big showy catchy ones. Crown of Love is the sound of my painfully awkward teenagerdom, and every time I hear it, I make a completely involuntary "Awwww!" face.
I'm glad you liked it, man, I am. I preach the Arcade Fire 'cause good people deserve good music.
Fair's fair though, so where do I start with Beck?
I.........really.......*grits teeth*......liked it.....
"Crown of Love" is such a good song
I listened to "Funeral" for the 1st time yesterday....
