View Full Version : Black Keys Live

If you haven't seen the Black Keys live, I highly recommend it. I have known quite a few people that weren't fans of their records but acquiesced and saw them live, instantly becoming fans. I've only seen them in small clubs so I'm not sure how they'll transition to a larger space. Nonetheless, i doubt there is another two-member band who can pour as much energy and execution into a live performance.

I caught their set at Coachella '04 and it was HOT...their performance and the temperature. They had the Mojave tent packed and moving. The energy was exactly as if they were playing a small club. Very good stuff!

They do just fine in both situations. I cannot wait to see them.
The best was their Lollapalooza performance when it rained. It was so perfect.

Man, I remember that '04 set. It must have been about 120 degrees, and icky-sticky humid in that tent. Sooooo nasty... but it fit the music perfectly! Theyre really great live because the two of them are so locked in with each other, they can really vary the tempo of the songs at will, speeding up and slowing down whenever the mood strikes, in perfect unison.
I've also seen them in a ~ 1,000 person club setting and they did just fine there too, so I think they'll be bringing their A game whether it's a tent or a stage.

The Keys will have no problem pleasing anyone who goes. This will be my 7th time seeing them and they have never been less than amazing.

They killed in the tent in 04, though I had to leave and sit outside while they finished because I was basically dying. I can't see them being put on the main stage, but if the White Stripes can do it, I'm sure the Black Keys could as well. Outdoor Theater would be a happy medium, but the Mojave is ideal.
im so indie

With the mediocre reviews of Magic Potion, I was worried that they wouldn't show up at Coachella. I'm excited to see them again, it'll be my third time. I think Dan is the greatest bluesman on the face of the earth (besides me, of course).
Can't wait to hear him shout: "I got up thismornin'! Put on mashooz!"
