What, specifically, are the benefits of buying VIP tix?

I don't believe they are available for sale to the public; you have to get them from a festival insider.

No they are NOT worth it. Some companies will offer them for outlandish amount of money, the VIP section is NOT close to the stage

Well, it depends... My experience three years ago with a VIP pass was a private after show party with TV on the Radio in a small house with a free open bar.. But it's kinda messed up because you not only need a VIP wristband to get to attend an afterparty but you need a specific invitation flyer.. So I don't think it's worth it unless you get the afterparty invitation.....

Right, that is not included with a VIP ticket, so again - NOT worth it.

last year, all i remember was going to an area to the side of the stage that had another bar. i just thought "WTF" and then walked out. it was lame.

I thought it all looked sorta lame, myself. Maybe there was some extra shade, but the proximity to any of the stages was lousy.

Personally, I think it's worth it because of the shade - I'm old. The distance from the stages sucked bigtime, but the cool shade of the tents, the back area with loungers and such was definitely worth the price in gold when it was nearing the 100s! And bear in mind that VIP bands only get you into the fenced off area, not backstage where the real food and bevs are... need even more special bands and or passes for that section.

Over all- I like vodka, not beer-(neither of which can be carried thru the venue) we brought our kids (12 and 7) at the time and it was worth it for them to have shade between bands we wanted to check out.

If you can get them, they're worth it- though bear in mind it's only like the difference between a Howard Johnson's and the Ritz Carlton- if you are only sleeping there, "how badly do you want the comfort of a fluffy comforter when you do come in for a landing...." Me, I need good sleep.

not worth it, if you really want to enjoy the music and the whole coachella experience, unless you have health problems and can't walk too much can't be in the sun for extended period of time....i did vip in 2003...no more vip for me.

Finally having VIP for a day last year was interesting, It was cool and stuff but in the end not worth it. I ran into a few band members and stuff but thats it.... Mist fan was nice.... And yeah if you want to really get VIP check www.coachellaconcierge.com when it gets update...

from experience, i'd say no.
if you're there to walk around and enjoy the experience in some shade then yeah VIP is for you. But if you want up close and personal for the music experience thennnn no.

Bathrooms kids you have better access to bathrooms.

it was helpful to get charged up in the morning; I would leave the campsite and be early into the show. Bought all my merch, stowed in the locker, retired to vip to sit in the air conditioning on a couch, drink whiskey and get fired up to go start catching sets at 2pm...
