View Full Version : Does the shuttle commute from Palm Springs suck?

I'm staying in Palm Springs... Pretty much the farthest point away (by the tram). Am I fucked??

Ain't nobody got time for that!

Bumping this thread cause it looks like I'll be doing this this year and I want more input.

Approximately how long does it take to get from Riviera Resort Palm Springs to the festival entrance? (that's the last stop on the White Line). Does it depend on the time of day? I imagine you can bring booze on the shuttle? I've read that the wait time for shuttles is very short on the way in and the way out, and most people have been very happy with their shuttle experiences.

Elaboration is encouraged. Thanks.

This was two years ago. Last year I think they moved the shuttle drop off closer or they cut off the huge circle they used to make you walk.

From the time I walked out of the hotel room door to the time I got into the fest was over 2 hours. If the shuttle picks up at your hotel, cut 15 minutes off that. If the shuttle drop off is closer to the gate, cut additional time. If there isn't a second search, cut additional time.

40 minutes is just the bus ride.

is it faster to drive yourself and deal with parking than taking the shuttle? Coming from Palm Springs

Really depends on the time of day and what lot you end up in. If you're carpooling, driving is certainly cheaper. But if you're not going to have a sober driver... stick with the shuttle.

Right on. Ill probably roll in around noon each day, and sober.

Do they have their own designated lanes so they can pass over regular traffic? Can you bring booze on the shuttles?

Bring beer with you on your travel. Drinks for ride on bus, drinks for walk to line. i suggest 5-6 beers per person. Unless you're a nurse, then 3-4.

I don't remember being stuck in any traffic while on the bus, not sure if this was due to any special treatment.

Hell yeah we were drinking on the bus.

Same boat as the OP. House is about 2 miles from the Riviera, is street parking decent around the area? Or should I just valet at the Riviera each day? Looks about 10-20 a day?

How is the day parking? Long waits in traffic?

Day parking works pretty well for me. Getting in can take up to about twenty minutes from what I recall. The "long" waits come at the end of the night when everyone tries to leave at the same time. It's not really that long though. Like someone else said, just make sure you have a sober driver. I've also done the shuttle, and I do think they have access to roads that bypass traffic. Personally, I prefer to drive and park in the day parking lot.

So I'm staying in Palm Springs and I'm trying to decide which shuttle line to ride. Would it be better to drive to one of the park and ride places or just try to find a parking spot and ride the white line?

White line.

White line.

I enjoy skiing.

Sweet, I just checked and the Hard Rock is less than half a mile from where I'm staying. That takes care of the parking situation.

Does anyone know if the Palm Springs (white route) shuttle takes highway 111 or Interstate 10 and cut back inland?

help...anyone? :(
