Such good vibes bro lol......First of all who the fuck cares about 420 unless you're 15? Second of all Jimmy Cliff is obviously the best answer...Anyone want to trade me a weekend 2 pass for a weekend one so I don't have to hang out with retards like Dougie.

When an analog clock dies at my house, I set it to 4:20. I can't throw away time, and it's always 4:20 at my house.

The difference between 4/20 and Cinco de Mayo/St. Patrick's Day is that 4/20 is a made up holiday with no historical significance (other than being Hitler's birthday but no one celebrating pot smoking on 4/20 is doing it because of that).

you're right, 4/20 not being a government holiday means it's made up and not celebrated. But Patrick, a saint ordained by God, leading all the rats in Ireland into the ocean. Sure, that shit's fact. Nothing made up about it at all. And again, no one celebrating drinking on st. pattys is doing it because of that.

So what you're saying is that St. Patrick's day is just as pointless as 4/20 because it has a basis in the Catholic religion and therefore not historically accurate?

nbvcide
03-20-2012, 12:56 AM
i'm saying it's just as pointless, but not for that reason. not a single one of our holidays are historically accurate.. and most of the catholic holidays are just renamed pagan holidays anyway. what i was saying is that most religious holidays are based on make believe, so how is that any diff than 4/20. it has a basis in history if you know anything about Berkeley in the 60's. the argument that we don't celebrate that holiday the way it was intended is doubly obvious in the st pattys case. Getting blasted ass drunk, obv a very christian holiday..

rats, snakes, baby seals... who gives a shit. The point is valid, regardless of why a holiday was created, is it justification for the thousands of people that spend the entire day getting piss drunk and pretending their grandmother twice removed was a quarter irish? Its absolutely no different than 4/20....

What about 4:21 on 4/21? Who will be injured or sick?
Now a 422 at 4:22 on 4/22 would have riot geared forces waiting for us all.

Cinco de Mayo is a holiday mostly celebrated by americans in observance of a minor mexican victory in a war no one cares about.

I wasn't arguing the merits of whether or not St. Patrick's Day or Cinco de Mayo are cause for celebration, just that when compared to 4/20, the former actually have some history tied to them.

If you're not Irish, then St. Patties day is just an excuse to wear cheap plastic leprechaun hats and drink excessively. If you actually come from an Irish family then it's about celebrating your Irish heritage and drinking excessively. That's the basic point of St. Patties day: Irish Pride. Anyone who's claiming otherwise probably isn't Irish.

4/20 is and always has been a joke. An inside joke for stoners. I admit I've used this arbitrary date as an excuse to smoke more weed than I normally would, but anyone that actually thinks that date has any kind of importance should probably consider cutting back a bit.

so let me get this right..st pattys devolves into an irish pride holiday, cinco de mayo devolved into a mexican pride holiday.. but 4/20 cannot possibly be a celebration of stoner pride. gotcha.

Why does it matter if people want to place importance on a specific day? What harm does it cause that stoners consider 4/20 a holiday? Everyone seems to be getting butthurt that stoners want to claim one day of the year as a "stoner holiday." Who gives a fuck?

Not a fact, go to Mexico on 5 de Mayo and go to any federal office/school and see if they're open. (The majority will be closed) I've been in Mexico during 5 de Mayo and people do celebrate/drink.

fixed to keep everyone honest.

Except what you posted is dishonest, because for people from and that live in Ireland, St. Patrick's Day isn't just a celebration of beer and getting drunk, whereas 4/20 is about nothing but smoking pot.

In the end, this is a stupid thread that has just gotten even stupider as it has gone on, so I'm done here.

In the end, you think you can decide what days are important and what aren't. Please, tell me, can I celebrate my birthday?
