maybe she could replace La Roux

A Pitchfork buzzband does not a 3rd line replace... although it would be a nice start.

that's saying La Roux should of been 3 line in the first place...

True. One annoying album and crappy live performances can be overcome by some people's love of pale shrieking women.

Okay, I gave Visions another listen. First time I skimmed through casually, this time I played it on a nice system and gave it my full attention. I get it now. It's like a poppy, breezy Skinny Puppy fronted by a girl. I love it. Nerdy Dune references and all.

I dont have any idea how she could replicate it live though. Im sure i would be disappointed by too much backtrack usage, but I like the albums well enough I'd be happy to give it a try.

She does a pretty good job of replicating things live: http://vimeo.com/32823551. Her show at the Echo recently was awesome.

I'm actually kinda surprised that she's not booked....she's been getting a fair amount of buzz lately, and her album is pretty decent....o well, guess I'll catch her at Primavera fest

Saw her play a couple years ago when she first started touring. It was actually painful to watch, even though her voice was incredible. From what I gather she has since learned how to play live, would love it if she was a late add

I actually really like these live videos. Her alone will probably get me to go to Pitchfork Saturday. I'm still kicking myself for not getting a ticket to see her earlier this month in Chi for like $15.

But enough about Austra...

Wow. It's like a retarded Florence and the Machine played to bad PC keyboards.

I'm gonna be pretty disappointed if GRIMES doesn't appear on the poster she is absolutely killing it.

Surely with her playing the S.S. she is pretty much locked in?

I was pretty indifferent about her album, really didn't understand what the big deal was (and her music should largely be in my critical wheelhouse). Then I saw her on Fallon (http://stereogum.com/1127021/watch-grimes-on-fallon/video/). I am honestly surprised that more people aren't mocking this for being the late '90s Ana Gasteyer SNL skit that it is.

A year ago it might have been rough but she's proved to be a fast learner as a live act with lots of gigging. Seeing her next week.

I seriously need to see this girl... I love Visions, played it out all year. I'm pissed the SD show was the same night as Xx (last night). Really hope she shows up to Coachella... That would be a serious fucking dance party in a tent; I can already see it now.

Went to the SD Grimes show alone, because all friends and acquaintances went to XX, no regrets, she is cute and so so so much fun. Tent dance party would be incredible.

Vancouver show was great. A hometown show of sorts in a 1,000 capacity venue with tickets fetching $75 outfront.

The visual part of her show is compelling rather than her being a "navel-gazer" too busy concentrating on racks of keyboards. Music is fun and plays around with arrangements a lot. Though she only did 60 minutes.

Prior to the hometown show it was announced that she's cancelling the rest o of her Canadian tour citing hearing damage. Those kids and their loud bass...

I saw her at Summersonic Festivals (Japan) last summer.
It was soso although she and her hipster chick friends were cute.
She's coming to Korea March 2013 with a 'full band set'.
Probably would check her out again before Coachella whether she's booked or not.

i saw the first of the el rey shows, it was about what i expected really. good time dancey fun type show, interesting crowd. she had one of the openers "myths" back her up but honestly i think it was just for show. the type of music she makes doesnt really require more than one person due to all the sampling and whatnot (which couldnt really be replaced with a live band anyway), so unless she somehow evolves like a pokemon i think she'll always have a bit of trouble live without visual aids. just close your eyes and it wont matter. besides she still does more up there than probably at least 80% of the DJs that played this year and no one seems to care about that

i really liked the opener myths. female duo, was kinda like a more goth/industrial version of crystal castles or something along those lines. the other opener elite gymnastics seemed to reeeaaally be having an off night. you know those rare shows when you're embarrassed for the performer due to all the technical issues they are having, and then due to how they are handling it? yea, it was pretty bad. poor guy was trying but he just had this air of defeat about him the entire set

Just caught her show last night...Finally the first time i've seen her and no sound issue. Also the first time i've seen her with a backing vocalist.

Interested to see what her new album will sound like. The Janelle Monae song was intense...basically hard electro. Her other new stuff as she put it, "It's kind of like the Godfather but if it was anime and there was time travel."

Here goes to hoping we catch her in April!

Her set at Beach Goth on Saturday was worth all the logistical and organizational bullshit of that festival. She danced and sang like a maniac, which suited her new material to a T. If the first few songs I heard from Art Angels is any indication of the rest of the album, it could very well be the best of 2015. She will definitely have to be on the Outdoor or main. Grimes is the shit!

She had a foot brace on for the Vancouver show 2 days later. Vancouver also got 3 extra new songs, and she still hasn't played the single live.

Wonder what happened? Hope she's OK. I resold my tickets for the Mayan this Tuesday because of a work conflict. "Scream" and "Kill V Maim" were incredible live and makes me anxious for Art Angels.

She certainly kicked ass last time she did Coachella, I'd love to see a return. Not sure about the main and outdoor though, she's good enough, for sure, but I feel like something might be lost seeing her in a non-enclosed space.

Wasn't her set at Goth Fest on the outdoor stage? Everyone seemed to love that. I think she's too popular for the Mojave or Gobi at this point without it being a clusterfuck, unless she was on at the same time as a big name headliner.

At least wait until the album is out next week. Don't think it's leaked and it's as if the label doesn't want people to hear it.

Grimes in the Gobi in 2013 was suffocating, and that set was mid-afternoon if I recall. Outdoor for sure next time.

I loooove Art Angels! Possibly my fave album of the year. My #1 most wanted artist for next year... I was not able to see her in 2013 due to having to miss Sunday that year (booo) but I think this set will be epic as fuck and really hope they book her. I'm hoping for main stage 8pm Sunday
