I support this thread's concept, if not its execution.

Couldn't have put it better myself. Only heard the 3 or 4 songs he has out but they're pretty great.

I hope Doyle Bramhall is still in his band. Gary has some well-known fans.

Just saw him friday in SD, UNREAL live, by far will be the best guitar player to see at coachella, even the backup guitar player will melt your face

Saw this guy at the Doug Fir in Portland. The show was amazing. He really brought it and he can really play. I will be up front for his set at Coachella.

I feel like Gary Clark Jr has time Machine. He is really from 1971.

The more I hear from him, the more I need to see him. Too bad he's on Saturday, there's probably going to be some overlap or conflict from the first set onward

Does he have anything released besides the Bright Lights EP?

greghead

Yes, he has two EPs and two albums. The LPs and first EP are out of print and hard to find, I believe. You can download them, of course.

During Gary Clark Junior's set on KCRW Friday morning, Jason Bentley announced he's playing Saturday night in the Gobi, FYI.

He is listed as TBD on the online lineup but is scheduled at 4:30pm Friday in the Gobi on the set time poster. Probably just a hiccup with the online schedule? Weird.

Anyway, if you like Gary Clark Jr. you might like The Soft White Sixties from SF. They have a vintage sound, especially the singer. You can skip around and check out their full live show at Slim's from last July:
