What time do the shows at Stern Grove start? I'm going to be driving back from Reno Sunday July 3rd and would like to try and make it to Neko/Dodos.

Even at what seems like the hundreds of festivals I've attended that Sharon Jones played, I have still never seen her, and that has to end...

Free? Oh man I need to be at that Sharon Jones date

05-02-2011, 01:14 PM
dope line-up all around. I'll be at at least 3 of these

I was interested in these as well, especially Sharon Jones. I heard you REALLY have to get there early for the more popular shows.

05-27-2011, 12:06 PM

The shows start at 2pm. To get a good seat for a popular show, you need to get there by ~11am. The venue allows you to bring in your own food and drinks, including alcohol. The venue is lined with trees, the staff is friendly, the sound is pretty good and street parking is available. Bring sunscreen.

had a great time this past Sunday listening to/watching the Jazz Mafia Symphony and Chali 2na perform. wifey won the picnic table lottery, so we landed prime seats without the hassle of arriving early. given all that was happening in the city that day, we opted for a bike ride. worked out great, as they offer free valet service at the entrance and I think there were only 125 bikes parked... so no line whatsoever! all in all a fun afternoon, and as usual, Stern Grove had it's micro-climate magic working, as fog rolled past west of 19th ave., while the grove basked in warm sunshine.

I totally forgot about the Sharon Jones show. Fuck.

^She was good.

Anyone else going tomorrow? If I don't get up in time to get a spot in front, I'll definitely be on the hillside with snacks and beer and in need of company.
